Urgent Action Needed: Haitians in Haiti are being slaughtered.
Emergency Action Alert
Mar 1 2004

Urgent Action Needed.
Haitians in Haiti are being slaughtered.

by Marguerite Laurent, Esq. Chair, Haitian Lawyers Leadership

Our Black people in Port-au-Prince Haiti are being slaughtered. The duly elected President kidnapped by U.S. Marines and flown out of the country at gunpoint and is being held hostage in the Central African Republic under U.S and French guard.

Yesterday, it is reported that, under U.S. marine escort the former FRAPH/FAHD thugs rolled into Port-au-Prince.

Aristide's private residence has been trashed.

The Prime Minister's residence has been trashed.

The first order of business for these U.S. supported death squad leaders and (Guy Philip, Jean Tatoune and Louis Jodel Chamblain) harden criminals was to go to the National Penitentiary and forcibly break out all the 2000 prisoners there.

Now these murderers have more murderers to help them terrorize Haiti.

Practically every building Aristide and the Haitian people built these last 10 years are being burned down and destroyed. Meanwhile the U.S. troops, French troops, Canadian troops are protecting their own edifices in Haiti. No one is protecting the more than 850 million investment per year hard working Haitians of the Diaspora have invested in the security, development, shelter and nurturing of their relatives, children and family in Haiti.

This just in from Port-au-Prince: The SOPUDEP (Organization for the Socioeconomic Development of Petionville) school, which provides a free education and hot lunch program for over 400 of the poorest children in the community, is being threatened. Opposition thugs and former military have spread word through the neighborhood that they are planning to attack and burn the school very soon. The administration and staff take this threat very seriously and many of them have already gone into hiding until the situation changes.

Sad in Germany,

7. Collecting money for nukes and give them to Venezuela and Cuba
"The island of Hispaniola is a gateway to the Caribbean basin, strategically located between Cuba to the North West and Venezuela to the South. The militarization of the island, with the establishment of US military bases, is not only intended to put political pressure on Cuba and Venezuela, it is also geared towards the protection of the multibillion dollar narcotics transshipment trade through Haiti, from production sites in Colombia, Peru and Bolivia."

Not supporting left governments, who don't have an army and WMDs.

Go on, spreading the truth. Seems that among poverty, unemployment and hamburgers, lies are the most globalized god today.
Fuck Reuters,
Dirk

20. That pretty much sums it up

When the most you can do is try to get weapons to countries that don't have them as a deterrent (the ONLY deterrent, apparently) to US imperialism.

The arms industry wins either way.

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought,
but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

24. The Black Caucus is asking us
to: call, fax, e-mail the State Department, the WH, Senators, Represetives and ask why and where is Aristide and to answers questions about this coup d'etat.
Aristide's wife is an American, so not only have International Law, Our Constitution been violated, but kidnapping is a Federal Crime.

3. Good Lord.
Madness. How in the world do they get away with this? Who suffers now? The the rich dance in the streets as they burn the schools built for the poor.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm oversimplifying - but from the clips I've seen on television (very obviously wealthy Haitians living it up), and then reading this - that's sure as hell what it looks like.

12. First off, spread the information
far and wide. Go to:

http://www.haitiaction.net/

There are many action items there. Write, call, etc. your state's representatives and demand an immediate investigation.

This is what one of those german Goebbels, who call themselves foreign correspondents, did say reporting from Haiti yesterday.

I find it very difficult to watch/listen, here - it sounds as if German "reporters" are on about the same level as ours. Pure trash.

be less upsetting when it begins in the "problem neighborhoods" in the US.

15. Why do you think the regime chose this modality?

It would have been easy enough to quietly and discretely have him eliminated in Haiti weeks, months ago.

That would be real plausible deniability.

But they don't need that. Already, all that is necessary is to decree, and the US media will echo the decree, and the viewer poll will show that at least half agree with the regime.

CNN has explained that Aristide sometimes says unusual things, and is not considered to be quite, well, you know.

The US voting classes are not disturbed, for the most part, by poor non-whites being slaughtered. That happens a lot. Ask anybody in Gujarat.

Nor are they disturbed by the US doing what it pleases with its properties around the globe.

Or anything to anybody if they are told it is beneficial to US interests and/or the "war on terror."

19. I caught that statement
only had cnn on for a few minutes but caught that... 'he has been saying strange things... he isn't quite... well...you know ' statement.

And Ronald Reagan in Reijkevik was considered... at the top of his game?

It is very troubling at times to reflect on how unreflective so many folks here in the US are - not ever quite getting the irony (e.g., must get anyone with WMDs... but we must accelerate our own proliferation of WMDs...)

The only time I remember a quick public critical mass get moved out of their chairs over mass slaughter was during the atrocities in Rwanda. I think the magnitude and rapidity was so horrifying that it shook even complacent viewers/readers up.

21. It wasn't so horrifying that they did anything to prevent it, or stop it

A couple of years later there was a TV special, PBS or something. Some kids with candles, and I think, a wreath.
