is 60minutes good journalism?
I dont think so - whenever my wife turns it on the first words i hear are trial jury prosecutors etc...now they are playing up the martha steward by talking to the jurors. They are, in my opinion, nothing more than a glossed over local news channel. Perhaps they were good once, exposing corruption etc...but i dont see that anymore.
comments?
Pls no ranting and raving i have a headache

2. I think you are talking abot Dateline
they have the Stewart jurors. 60 min was Chalabi. While not democracy now, it is the best of the network shows.

3. 60 Minutes is one of the few shows
that still practice "Journalism."

4. Back in the early 1970's it was. Actually some of the old timers are

still there, but they have sold out for entertainment. There was a time they did old fashioned, boring stories behind the news, and they became popular. Then it became less journalism and more entertainment. We also found out that when they became popular, they weren't checking their sources that well and the stories were becoming sorta biased.

5. watch the movie "The Insider" and get back to us
you'll see that 60 minutes used to be the best journalism in America, then it was sold down the river by corporatists.

Probably the most important movie of the last ten years. Amazing.

6. I happen to live in a small town that was smeared by 60 Minutes
back in 1982. It was a segment called "Small Town, USA."

They breezed into our farming community of 2500 during hard times, overwhelmed and dazzled the citizens, and told many, many lies about how we victimized a family with a disabled child, because we turned off their water for a few hours.

There was a great deal more to the story than that.

The child died during the course of the story, not because of anything the town did, but because she was fragile. People all across the country thought our community was responsible for her death.

It was a nightmare. Our mayor had to go into hiding. The nightmare started all over again when they showed summer reruns.

No. Sixty Minutes is not good journalism.
