My letter to the New York Whore Times
http://www.thismodernworld.com/weblog/mtarchives/week_2004_03_07.html#001376

You folks were punked. I thought the New York Times was better than, say, World Net Daily.

OTOH, I have a store at CafeShops. Maybe if I can throw together a quickie design of "I lost my job to India and all I got was this lousy T-shirt," I can make a bundle, as Thomas Friedman suggests. I'll let you know how it goes.

1. Thanks for "head up" on this. I just linked to Tom's site and sent an
e-mail to the Ombudsman at NYT's asking Mr. Friedman to source the name of this T-Shirt entrepreneur, and mentioned that this guy probably silkscreened his T-Shirt (if the story is even true) on a T-Shirt made in China, Bangledesh, Viet-Nam or India. So, perhaps Mr. Friedman would better understand the issue of Outsourcing White Collar jobs to India better when he finds that there is an Indian Reporter who could probably do some more insightful and appropriate columns about how the "Indian Economy is Thriving due to the Importation of Jobs from the Innovative Americans."

-----------
This is a great example of where we could make a difference if we send a thousand e-mails to the NYT's about this column by Friedman.

That's what the RW does, if they don't like a column. Thousands of e-mails come in from their "RW Processing Center" and the columnist is left cowering afraid to right anything that isn't flattering to them, anymore.

Let's hope more folks spend a minute to e-mail him and ask him to reveal the name of this "T-Shirt" guy and where the T-Shirts were made. If nothing else it might make him think twice before writing another "off the top of his head column without properly sourcing it."

2. ummm, there are more than one source
I got one of those shirts from Cafepress. It has the upside down Cisco logo with the slogan: "Unemploying the internet generation" and the back is "I lost my job to India, and all I got was this lousy T-shirt".

It was up on Cafepress for all of 4 hours before the Cisco Legal team nuked them with threats.

So, yes, there were versions of this available form vendors in the US.
