Wolfowitz on NPR...
... Juan Williams "interviewed" Paul Wolfowitz, it was broadcast this morning. Williams threw out the usual softball questions, Wolfowitz gave the usual disingenuous answers, and Williams moved on to the next softball.

If you are still sending money to NPR affiliates, please stop supporting blatant propaganda like this. Or at the very least, ask NPR why they never have these softball interviews with someone with our point of view.

1. They have.
Michael Moore leaps to mind. They then turned around and were harder on O'Riely. I agree he needed to be nailed to the wall, however they did go light with Mike.

They were also pretyt easy on all of the Democratic Presidential hopefuls during their interviews.

6. Why is it...

... that the infrequent times I now listen I always hear this propaganda? Paul Wolfowitz has NOTHING TO ADD TO THE DEBATE at this point. The ONLY reason he is on the air is to let Williams throw him a framework for repeating the same series of lies we've heard since November of 2002.

I stand by my exhortation :)

edited for typo.

7. Then let me ask it this way.
Would you be equally upset if they were softballing just the Democrats and letting them get away with the scripted answers?

The reason that is what you are hearing is because that is what is on when you turn it on. Wolfowitz is a member of the Administration. Having AdminReps on is important for a news organization. Hearing their BS yet again isn't a bad thing as we know it is BS. Remember. In general NPR listeners are better informed, better educated, and less likely to believe the BS.

5. Wolfowitz doesnt seem like the type...

to consent to a hostile interview. Guy's got a bit of an anger problem and is obviously a serious control freak with delusions of grandeur.

I can't see him arguing with an interviewer...answering questions is so "beneath" him, ya know?

8. You know there are other reporters working for NPR
They are trying to be nonbiased. Unfortuantely for their attempts when right wing reporters give their take they will twist and misrepresent as best they can.

Just imagine a freeper trying to listen to NPR for more than 2 hours. Their head would explode with all the exposure to ideas it brings. NPR may give voice to the right, but the name of the show is All Things Considered. Trust me, considering all things is the lefts game, not the right. They cannot abide the light of knowledge. I would rather put up with hearing a right wing spin occaisionally in order to consider all things.

9. I listen...
... to ATC occassionally. I'm puzzled as to why you would think they are any better. Eric Westerveld (spelling?) routinely does puff pieces - one from a few months ago tried to spin those "spontaneous" letters from troops as being the actions of the troops well after their commander admitted being the impetus.

When it comes to certain science, medical and environmental reporting, NPR still does a basically good job. But when it comes to politics they have taken a hard right turn. Let the freaking wingers fund them, I'll find a better use of my activism dollars.

10. What would you have him do?
Williams asked some questions about WMD, he followed up with questions noting discrepancies in Wolfowitz's statements. He moved on when Wolfowitz was done.

It seems that the only thing you'd be happy with would be a reporter snarling and snapping at Wolfowitz. Is there anything short of that that you'd find acceptable?
