Spain and terror - points to push
A - Jose Aznar failed to protect Spain from terrorism. This was a vote to punish ineptitude.

B - Jose Aznar refused to represent his people on the issue of the Iraq war. This was a vote to preserve democracy.

C - Jose Aznar attempted to implicate the ETA in order to divert attention from the above failures. This was a vote for honesty in government.

There you have it three alternatives to the media spin which states - this was a vote based on fear of another attack.

1. PS
As we well know this news out of Spain is bad for Bush - especially if the debate is framed in these terms. The "backing down to terror" talking point is a way for Republicans to deligitimize the democratic process itself - that is any time they don't get the results they want.

3. Excellent points: Let's hope that the US public will
respond to another attack here the same way. The fly in the buttermilk is the corporate owned press has fostered an ignorant population in the US that is more believing of the crap coming out of officialdom, when they aren't being attacked with weapons of mass distraction like Football, Survivor and Seinfeld.

7. Let's respond to the first attack on America in the same way
All of these points are true of the Bush administration as well. Item B is true of Bush as well (even if you discount the 2000 election), for this reason: most people in America OPPOSED the war without UN involvement, until Bush manipulated them into believing that Iraq was a threat. Bush's attitude during the lead-up to the Iraq war is equal parts Item A and Item B.
