Hagel comments on Clarke's comments in the Guardian
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 12:48 AM by roguevalley
A senior Republican senator, Chuck Hagel, yesterday described Mr Clarke as "a serious professional", adding that "the White House is going to have to answer these charges".

Interesting. This could become the 'third rail' for repugs out there. They can't deny it if Clark has him cold without becoming part of the problem. Expect to watch a bunch of them say either nothing or straddle the fence.

1. I would accept a Hagel or McCain on the ticket if....
that would guarantee a defeat of George W Bush.

2. Can't say the same...
I respect both men, and either would make an excellent VP, but not on the Democratic ticket. Just can't see it...

5. Maybe McCain/Hagel 2004?
if the repubs had any sense, they'd dump Shrub like a hot potato and replace him.

That's really their only chance at this point

6. I wonder if Hagel ever faced any charges over vote tampering?
He used to be the chairman of ES&S, a company on par with Diebold.

Trust him at your own peril.

9. I'm From Nebraska
I'm very worried about black box voting but whenever I read that Hagel stole the election here in Nebraska, I cringe. I can't say that anyone I know voted for the Democrat that year - I can't even remember his name (what does that tell you)? The Nebraska Democratic Party didn't even endorse the guy.

I'm not saying there wasn't any voter fraud - although I personally doubt it. I am saying I would be completely and utterly shocked if Charlie Matulka (Okay, I Googled it) even came close to winning that election.

When you try to bring up black box voting to Nebraskans, don't use this particular example. They'll think you're nuts. That said, we have plenty of our own wackos that will vote for President Bush regardless of what damning information comes to light.

8. Let's trade Lieberman and Biden
to the Repubs for Hagel and McCain and a player to be named later.

10. Yeah Hagel will call anyone on anything
I didn't know about BBV questions but I have seen Hagel cut through the W spin and be very straight forward. Yeah that would be a good trade.
