Tucker Carlson says white house is worried about upcoming book and it's rumored that Powell will try to use the book to separate himself from the neo-cons.

Wooo hooo!

5. McLaughlin group this week-end
That was his political hot tip of the week. That the book would be negative on Bush, and Powell distancing himself from the neo-con cabal.

11:30am EST (in the NYC market)

Tweety and four guests in a roundtable. (not nearly as loud as McLaughlin and he does get a variety of viewpoints. Tucker is still a cretin though. today he had David Gregory and a BBC corresponant.

9. Maybe he's suffering from a conscience attack since he wrote that
book praising Bush like he was a caesar or something. I suspect that Colin won't be the only person backing off.

10. Amen...
He has completely disgraced himself. NOW, he wants to distance himself when the s*** is hitting the fan - how convenient for him. Do the dirty work then run away to keep his reputation intact - Bastard.

13. Better late than never...

That's probably part of it, but Colin Powell has been out of the limelight for a while now... perhaps by his own preference.

Any apology has three parts:
    1. Admit what you did or failed to do that was wrong.
    2. Do whatever possible to make restitution.
    3. Take measures to try to ensure that the same kind of thing cannot happen again.

Because there are three parts, I will accept any apology but also watch to see the follow-up in order to decide about the sincerity of the apology.

Powell is already planning not to be involved with the administration should there be a second term (G-d forbid!). Not everyone has the disposition to become a crusader and whistle-blower. Some do best working quietly behind the scenes. Let's see what happens.

12. Regardless of Powell's history of siding with crooks and liars...
I welcome Powell's defection from the Bush administration. I welcome anyone's defection from the Bush administration. I can forgive a lot in order to see the junta disgraced finally.

I am not going to hold my breath waiting for Powell to grow a conscience, mind you. I will believe it when I see it.
