I am struck by the contrast on MTP between Clarke and Bush
I watched when Russert lobbed softballs at Bush and he couldn't connect with one. Clarke, on the other hand was magnificent. It was truly enlightening to see Clarke work. Timmy wasn't as bad as I've seen him in the past, in fact, he allowed Clarke to make is points. But the thing that I came away with that was most impressive was the contrast between the ability of Clarke to answer questions and how George Bush fumbled like he didn't know what was coming. Does anyone honestly believe that George Bush has the requisite "gravitas" (I know, I know, I hate that word too, but it really fits here) to be Commander-in-Chief? Anyone who believes that is, IMHO, clearly delusional.

1. If you don't like "gravitas"
Try "substance." When Clinton took office, I remember my astonishment that we had a president who could put together a coherent English sentence.

2. Clarke is too intelligent to have succeeded
in the Bush II White House. He has a tendency to assemble and present complete syllogisms when coloring books and crayons would have served him better.

5. That man, Clarke, was prepared....
prepared...not with just spin, not just deflection, not just answering a different question...he was prepared with facts. It appears his facts are the truth because he is only being attacked with the old character assassination, not with viable facts - the right is trying to make it sound like he is lying to the people who are struggling to pay bills and don't have time to dig deep.

In their denial to allow the lie to unravel, they add another layer of lies. My new adjective for them is the Layered Right Wing.

8. I prefer a president who isn't proud of not reading . . .
either books or newspapers . . . you know, someone with a natural curiosity about the world and its people . . . someone with an active brain . . .

9. Of course Bush is too obtuse to be President. He sucks.
It's a no brainer.

10. can you imagine?
... a debate between clarke and bush about what went on in bush's own white house in 2001?

we could do a pay-per-view and damn near pay off the national debt!!!!!!!!!

11. I could imagine it.
Clarke would talk intricate details and timetables of who knew what when, actions, responces, etc. Bush would have the same rebuttal for every point made: "If we had known that al Qeada were going to attack the WTC on 9/11, we would have acted." As if that were end of story!

13. Bush was pre-recorded, too.
Even with a stacked deck, he's deficient. Story of his life.
