What if Terrorism is Just a New Twist
on the decades-old sport of proxy warfare? Afterall, terrorism HAS been Syria & Iran's preferred form of proxy warfare for a quite a while now.

Can anybody explain to me why Russia and/or China wouldn't arm the Iraqi opposition in order to counter American military might? Afterall, with our troops stretched out, even the little sand sharks are probably circling, looking for a dangling bit to chomp off.

1. Because those days are over
If anyone tried to sneak arms into Iraq they would be spotted. Times have changed. Beside, Russia and China are in it with the US.

2. Why should China or Russia get in there
.
.
.

much MUCH more embarassing for the USA, the "Superpower" being held off by a country who has no MILITARY!!!

20 million people, obviously a pittance to China's and Russia's 1.5 BILLION, actually only a small portion of that 20 million have held the US at bay for a year, and INCREASING resistance . . .

Russia and China can save their weapons and money (not to mention lives) for when they have a REAL enemy.

Remember, Iraq wasn't even considered a threat to it's NEIGHBORAS, let alone the States, 8,000 miles away.

China anad Russia are having a good laugh at the US - should read some of there bloggers and forums in Russia!

They ain't scared of GeeDubya one bit

- they think Junior is just a bumbling fool with one helluva mean streak

- and don't flame me, but they can't understand for the life of it why the American people let Junior do it - they literally ridicule the USA's version of "Democracy"

No no - they'll sit and watch,

but they'll be ready if Georgie-boy crosses the line

6. Relationship? - that's sort of funny
.

.

If Junior wasn't the pResident, Putin wouldn't give him the time of day.

Putin is no dummy,

Can't say the same about King George!

4. I see your point
But neither of you account for oil. If Iraq is the second largest reserve, and Saudi Arabia is the largest, how will Russia/China power the machine that will confront a "real" enemy?

5. We "proxied" (armed) the Taliban to fight the Russians in Afghanistan.

They were being presented as....Mujahadeen Resistance Fighters, I believe...in the US then.

Not exactly to your post, just an aside.
