Now that we've launched a missile strike on a Mosque
How long will it be before terrorists decide that Christian Churches are legitimate targets?

Attacking that Mosque might have been the worst mistake of the entire war.

14. I suppose so but who's more deserving ...
Christian fundies in Texas or the Christians in Iraq? I'm not wishing violence on either just being sarcastic.

16. RWers here rarely show up in church
Doncha know? They all talk a good game, but since these fundies have it all figured out for themselves, they don't need no stinkin' churches! This apparent disconnect has always greatly amused me. So much easier to avoid the collection basket, I guess. Besides, they'd rather storm the movie theaters to revel in the dramatics of blood letting (I live way too close to great hordes of these people - their numbers are legion).

I cannot think of any time that I have ever seen the Bush Cabal attend church here in TX, other than for a photo op, of course.

Too inconvenient and unnecessary really.
Kinda like going to soldiers funerals.

Sorry, I'm on a hypocrite tear today.

3. But this isn't a Crusade!
It's a Crusade-related program activity.

5. Terrorists have been bombing American churches for decades.
But the churches were black and the terrorists were white. So it wasn't that big a deal.

9. This time around
It's going to be brown skinned people setting off bombs in white churches.

And white people dying is about the only thing that every really gets America's attention.

11. Haven't you heard? This is a CRUSADE
And the Christian "soldiers" are gung ho about the war, generally speaking. I think it's time to arm the children in the churches.

/sarcasm

12. I'm a bit out of the loop today ...
I've been busy so I haven't had the chance to watch any news.

We bombed a Mosque????

WTF is wrong with Bush*, Bremer and company? Just when I think they can't get any more stupid or incompetent, they do! It's like they all sit around and brainstorm: "Ok, guys ... let's see if we can come up with something else that will make them hate us even more!"

15. Thanks for the link
Everyday I get more ashamed to be an American. I hate the RWers for making me feel this way. :(

I know our country isn't perfect and we've done some bad things in the past ... but we're not supposed to be the ones doing things like this. We're supposed to be the ones who fight people who do things like this.

19. What assumption?
Edited on Wed Apr-07-04 04:51 PM by BattyDem
If you're talking about my comment that we're supposed to be the good guys ...

It wasn't an assumption, it was more of a perception ... as misguided as it may be. When I grew up, America was about "truth, justice and the American way." We were the strong ones who helped the weaker ones. I know it's corny and I'm not saying that was actually true, I'm simply saying that's what we were taught to believe.

As I said, I know we're not perfect and we've done bad things in the past ... but because this administration is so arrogant, showing enormous contempt for other cultures and an unbelievable disregard for human life, it makes me feel sad and ashamed. Sorry ... that's just the way I feel. I love my country but I'm not proud of what we're doing.

Just to be clear ...
I'm not blaming the troops at all; they're victims of this whole mess, too. :(

22. I know what you mean
As an American, I was raised to believe that we were always the guys who wore the white hats, stood on the side of principle, fought for the good cause.

I don't believe America is evil, but I can say without reservation that we're fighting for a bad cause in Iraq, and the fact that its being done under the banner of the stars and stripes fills me with anger and shame.

Damn the heartless, evil, old men who ever got us involved in this. Damn them straight to hell.

Edited on Wed Apr-07-04 02:40 PM by rchsod
they were outside the mosque and were attacked. most of the dead were women and children. over 200 iraqi civilians have died in the last 24 hrs. of course this is from the totally "biased" aljazeera website ,they never tell the truth.

23. You're probably right
But now that we've attacked a Mosque, we've legitimized places of worship as military targets.
