New Poll -- CNN says Condi turned tide for Bush
Now saying Clarke is not believable, Condi is. This is supposedly after yesterday's "testimony." It stinks to high heaven. The fix is in.

1. I have no idea what part of Condi's testimony was more believable
But I do have no doubt that the American public is completely brainwashed.

2. Either these polls are skewed
Or Americans are loathe to even think that their government and officials are incompetent or liars and perhaps both.

8. they don't mind thinking that about Clarke, though
they are selective indeed

this goes to show the difference between watching the testimony itself, and watching news reports on the testimony

20. The media is influencing the polls by not reporting re Clarke's witnesses!
When Clarke appeared on 60 Minutes, CBS said they had verified with several other White House witnesses that Clarke was telling the truth....Why is this fact being ignored by the media?....The media is playing this like it is a case of "he said - she said.".....

38. That's what they do.
It help cover the ass of their Imperial Masters to treat corrorated-lies vs. corroborated-truths as "he said, she said".

I am learning more about the techniques of Bushevik/Putin "Managed Democracy" every day. Learning far more than I ever wanted to know about How to Subjugate a Free Nation.

9. It is brand new...check their site
It JUST came on the air. They called it a "brand new" poll, just in.

Did Bush do all he could?

Yes 48% (Up from 40% last poll)

No 42% (Down from 50% last poll)

---

What really toasts me is the post game shows yesterday almost UNIVERSALLY were saying Condi sucked wind and made more problems for Bush. Even Tweety, Wolf, Freidman and many on the right said she actually hurt Bush. In the afternoon.

BUT...by the evening I channel surfed and all the news outlets were reporting the exact opposite. When they showed the exchange between Rice and Ben-Veniste, the cut out the "just answer the question" exchange and only showed her seemingly forthrightly anwering the question. This sucks so bad. They ALL seem to have changed their mind in the course of a few hours. Just enough time to get the memo's from the top, I guess.

I am soooo bummed. The fix is in.

He did diddly-squat!

On the other hand, a competent administration might have
been able to do a lot more.

21. But in the link in the thread above they actually say this:
Rice won the credibility race against former counterterrorism aide Richard Clarke -- who testified that the White House had ignored warnings about Osama bin Laden's terrorist organization. Forty-three percent of the poll's participants said they were more likely to believe Rice, as opposed to 36 percent naming Clarke.

Still, 21 percent weren't sure, and it was the 72 percent of Republican respondents who put Rice over the top.

Fifty-three percent of Democrats believed Clarke over Rice.

46. I think you are reading into it too much
The press is actually being QUITE critical of the Bush Administration these days. I think they realize they've been lied to and used by this administration time and time again, and they are finally fed up with it. Add to that the absolute horror that would be a 9/11 LIHOP (which seems more and more likely with each passing day) and I don't see how you get a sympathetic press corps. In fact, I think the press is purposefully pushing this 9/11 thing to put the pressure on the Bush Administration. If it weren't for all the press stories Condi Rice would never have had to testify, nor would the August 6th PDB be declassified. This is just the beginning of a snowball effect that will culminate in Bush's downfall.

41. Here, read it....this is NOTHING...no damage:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/09/rice.poll/index.html

Here's the supposed "victory":

"Forty percent of the 1,000 Americans polled said that the administration, based on the information it had, could have done more to stop the terrorist attacks, compared with 54 percent in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll conducted March 26-28."

That's not surprising at all.

Then there's this:

"Rice won the credibility race against former counterterrorism aide Richard Clarke -- who testified that the White House had ignored warnings about Osama bin Laden's terrorist organization. Forty-three percent of the poll's participants said they were more likely to believe Rice, as opposed to 36 percent naming Clarke.

Still, 21 percent weren't sure, and it was the 72 percent of Republican respondents who put Rice over the top.

Fifty-three percent of Democrats believed Clarke over Rice."

This is nothing.

CNN the last two weeks has been in "lock down." MSNBC isn't much better but there are a few escapes here and there.

Otherwise it's the internet for news.

7. What exactly does this mean, turn the tide?
Turn the tide for Bush in a positive way or a negative way? Based on what I've heard on Air America which covered the hearing yesterday, she was an ass.

She lied, lied and lied some more to cover her boss. If this was seen as bolsteing his image, then I'm completely stumped.

14. Good for Bush
"Based on what I've heard on Air America which covered the hearing yesterday, she was an ass."

Exactly. And that is what you'd have heard yesterday afternoon had you watched CNN, MSNBC, etc. By evening news, even CBS, usually tougher on Bush, was editing out the exchange between Ben-Veniste and Rice and was making her sound as if she took the place by storm.

After the "Yawning Boy" fiasco with CNN claiming that the tape was doctored by Letterman, then claiming it received a call from the White House that said the tape was faked; then admitting it had "made a mistake," who can believe them?

CNN's credibility is shot!!!

... I'm even more astonished.

I listened to most of her testimony and to me, it was nothing but finger-pointing, denial and stump speeches for Bush, mixed in with "nobody told me what to do, so I didn't do anything".

Just another incompetent Bush crony.

They are unreal at CNN at this point. RoveHitler has them by the pants.
I am so disappointed in CNN. They must have been told if you say anything about the chimpco and it is not positive, your job is GONE!

So far, whenever they have a "poll" with high ratings for Bush, it seems that when the dust settles,Chimpco is not as high as they had predicted.

I wonder why--hummm
