Did you see Bush's press conference today? Tell me on thing:
When do you think Bush actually read the Aug. 6 PDB, I mean really read it, understood it, and thought about it. His answers today made me believe that he was lying like a rug. "I felt conforted.." What the hell does that mean? You read what that PDB said and you feel "conforted?" And then to say that he would have acted had the FBI said that they found something? Hell, who wouldn't have acted if you had a blueprint and time schedule for an attack? Plus, he is saying too often that HE asked for the briefing. I noticed that he began saying that AFTER Condi had repeated this a couple of times in her TV interviews and during her testimony before the Commission. I simply believe that Bush was totally out to lunch on the enitre terrorist issue. If he did ask for that briefing, it was because he wanted to see if there was anything going on involving Iraq.

1. Let's just say the guy is disconnected from reality and leave it at that.

2. bush was not 'out to lunch' on the terrorist issue
Edited on Mon Apr-12-04 08:03 PM by unblock
bush was on vacation. bush was fundraising.

if bush ever did have any discussions about terrorism, it was how to pin something on saddam.

beyond that, i'm sure cheney told him, "we've got that one covered, george, don't you worry about a thing <snicker>."

4. It really depends
on how well Bush is able to sell what he did after he read the memo. If he did no more than "fell comforted" he's going to have a lot of explaining to do. I don't think he did much of anything.

If you have ever worked for a large organization, you know that nothing can make things happen like the guy on top banging his fist on the table to get something done.

5. Dense
W is too dense to have been in on either. He was kept out of
the loop. He is merely the mouth piece. He is to dense to actually
lie about complex matters. He is a puppet and believes what his puppet masters tell him to say.

9. Hmm.
One thing I do not understand about the mouth piece argument is that if they just wanted a guy in office to act as mouth piece then why would they choose someone like Bush who obviously is not a excellent public speaker? Don't you think they would have put someone else who would great with public speakings? Just something to think about.

7. I agree...I doubt Bush had actually reread that memo since he failed
to do anything the first time. It seems like his advisors gave him two or three nuggets about what Bush could say was inside, and that's what he goes off of.

Also in regards to the idea Bush "asked" for this PDB. I read somewhere today (and of course can't remember where now) that a high level CIA operative is saying this memo was put together solely by the CIA's own iniative - not because Bush put the golf clubs down for a second to ask about the threat.

Anyone else see that today...I did alot of catching up on the news from over the weekend, so I'm not sure where exactly I caught this...

8. Somebody read it when it was presented.
And restricted its distribution to only seven people. (Hiding the old "historical information" is important you know.)
