Pickard v. Ashcroft - One of them LIED under Oath
"The second report quoted Pickard as saying he had briefed Ashcroft on terrorist threats in late June and July 2001 but the attorney general was not interested.

"After two such briefings, the attorney general told him he did not want to hear this information anymore," the report quoted Pickard as saying. Pickard himself repeated the charge in his testimony but Ashcroft vehemently denied it. "

1. lalala I can't hear you lalala
Now I understand the formerly baffling choice of Ashcroft.

They needed somebody who was a fundie and completely oblivious to reality.

21. I'll pick Ashcroft for lying...remember the Judge White stuff
Most funddies will lie at the drop of a hat because they believe that the ends justifies the means and that God will forgive them.

2. Lying under oath! Lying under oath!
Let's spend a ba-gillon dollars to see who lied under oath!

After all, this time it's about something REALLY important and not about Clinton's weenie.

Nahhhh, it'll never happen.

4. Ashcroft is the freakiest, weirdest man alive.
He is frightful in demeanor.
Do children run when they see him? They should. They really should.

10. My son (18 years old)
is not a child anymore but he came in, looked at the tube and said, "Dude, that is one evil sucker. Must be Ashcroft." He didn't run but he didn't stay either.

5. I think he was splitting hairs!
I listened very carefully to Ashcroft's answer. He didn't say "I absolutely didn't say that". He said "I never told him I didn't want to hear about terrorism".

I know this is a Clinton move, but it would get him out of a purgery charge!

I listened very closely to Ashcroft's answers to all the questions. There were quite a few he didn't answer at all. He's very good and giving answers that don't address the question that was asked!

8. I don't see how that would get him out of it.
Seems like his answer is a lie.

11. Did you just hear Chris Matthews say almost the same thing?
I can't believe it! Chris Matthews just played the clip from the FBI Dir. and Ashcrofts reply right after. Chris said "Ashcroft didn't deny the accusation, he denied something else!"

I've learned you MUST listen to every individual word uttered by these creeps and not assume you heard something you didn't.

14. Yeah but Chris Matthews ought to know that
with perjury if your intent was to mislead in your answer, then that's perjury.

Splitting hairs won't get you out of perjury if your intent was to mislead. Ashcroft clearly intended to convey to the Commission that Pickard was lying about the conversation having taken place.

20. Maybe, but his credibility would be gone bye-bye
at that point.

I don't care if they go to jail, I just want them all to be seen for the liars and crooks that they truly are.

I'd love for charges to be brought, just BROUGHT, against Asscrack for perjury. That would be sweet.

22. His credibility isn't great NOW!
and I think you are getting your wish. Each day one of them says or does something to assist in digging their hole deeper!

Just sit back and wait.

6. I'll believe Pickard. He actually defended subordinates at an office
some place, which is something to me, a former union
officer, shop steward, etc. <now retired, THANK GOD!>

I half expected Asscroft to put his fingers in his
ears, shut his eyes and sing his eagle song.

7. "he did not want to hear this information anymore"
reminds me of a good ol'boy supervisor I once had who said he didn't want to hear about company policy, which he was violating, anymore

so typical

they lie
they cheat
they kill
they line their pockets
they abuse
they bully
they don't care about the Founding Principles

they are traitors

15. a real gumshoe knows that usually those with the most to lose lies most.
and this is one of those usual times.

i can't wait to read the press release from the justice dept on why they are not indicting either ashcroft or pickard.

lying to a federal investigative commission is a crime. one of those two lied.

for the sake of our children, we must investigate who lied under oath to the american people.

what would jesus do?

19. We know Ashcroft lied: He chartered a plane for a fishing trip
BS) Fishing rod in hand, Attorney General John Ashcroft left on a weekend trip to Missouri Thursday afternoon aboard a chartered government jet, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart.

In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

"There was a threat assessment and there are guidelines. He is acting under the guidelines," an FBI spokesman said. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department, however, would identify what the threat was, when it was detected or who made it.
