1. All planned around Bush's speech tonight, same with Ashcroft....
The whole gang will be out setting the table for Bush and then hitting every show after Bush's speech.

Edited on Tue Apr-13-04 06:26 PM by CatWoman
He said the PDB was junk, contained old outdated data, and that the Dems were trying to hang it around *'s neck.

Jerk!!

p.s. the 9/11 widows are on -- Kristen B.

3. EVEN IF the August 6th PDB was full of junk it was STILL
the President's responsibility to follow up on this information. I have to agree that the FBI testimony today was truly scary in that it showed how ill-coordinated the agency was, even between themselves. However, as President, where theoretically, the buck stopped at his desk instead of at the fishing pole in his Bass pond, it would have behooved him to vigorously follow up and prove or disprove the info. For example, if it's true that all those field investigations were baloney or only investigating, say, one person at a time with regards to fundraising, that still has nothing to do with the top guy who has the burden of protecting the country doing something to ensure a thorough vetting.

18. One more comment on Thompson bouncing up and down in his chair
Even IF it is proven now that the info within that doc regarding the field investigations, etc is junk, the president DID NOT KNOW THIS nor did Condi Rice. So it's very easy to look back NOW to try to get Bush off the hook, but on the face of the PDB it was a current, urgent threat that required a response.... ANY response other than ***duh**** from the President and his incompetent National Security administrative assistant.

4. The advantage is that he lost his cool. And he is so repulsive that
I think he caused more damage than good. Then Ben Veniste very calmly trotted out what Condi had said.

7. Thompson is a very interesting asshole. The CEO of my wife's former
company hired Thompson to investigate a scandal he and other members of the board of directors were involved in. Thompson did exactly as he was told by CEO Georgine and only investigated what they told him. He failed to look at the federal pension laws in any way. This was the Ullico scandal which the WSJ called big labor's Enron yet nobody has ever heard of it.

8. Watch now: one of the women color coded the PDB. She had
pretty good conclusions about what was domestic (yellow), green what could have been declassified at that time.
The majority of it was present tense (not historical) and domestic threats.

10. WHOA!!!
The widows "color coded" the memo.

Current info was highlighted in yellow.

Domestic info was highlighted in orange.

Those colors were screaming at you in that document.
