US Snipers Slaughtered: Disinformation from Falluja?
According to http://jihadunspun.com">Jihadunspun, which I just came across tonight, Jihadists inside Fallujah have captured and executed 17 US snipers after cutting them off from their support troops.

I have no idea of the accuracy of these accounts -- and I suspect they are more wishful thinking (read "propoganda") on the part of the insurgents (read "defenders") inside Fallujah -- but the sad thing about war is that after a while you really don't know who to believe. The Internet let's the Iraqis spin the news as readily as the Pentagon and White House.

I just though the forum would be interested in this news and the web site.

2. I think that website has been previously debunked.
There was a claim a couple weeks ago that someone had captured 50 marines. Didn't happen.

5. More likely
They caught 17 people they assumed were fighting for the US. Maybe more contractors.

Hope not. Hope it's just a fantasy based on nothing. I'm sick that my country is behind so much slaughter.

6. That's the second time...
...I've heard the number of dead GI's as 17...both from less than reliable sources, but you have to wonder when the numbers are consistant. If we had a trustworty media in this country, a quote from jihadunspun (or whatever) would not even be worth a thread.

7. If that is indeed from the resistance inside Falluja
Then we would be wise to stay clear of it

The freepers and others like Rush limpdick would use it to discredit us. It is accepted from a military stand point they would use this type of medium (the internet) as a method of disinformation

Even the White would claim we are aiding the enemy by republication of such materials.

NOTICE..I have not said any thing about the accuracy of the story. Its just best to let some other news agency investigate and report their findings rather then be accused of aiding and abiding

8. First
you wouln't put a group of 17 snipers together.

Second, a two-dimensional force can't cut off a three-dimensional force. Even if 17 marines were surrounded, I don't see how the attackers could penetrate the air cover to capture them. Maybe, but I really doubt it.

Additionally, I seem to recall jihadunspun posting outrageous US casualty figures throughout the Afghan conflict. So I don't believe it.

9. It's tough to even guess at the truth......
on an Aussie station a couple of weeks ago they showed an 'insurgent recruiting' video that had been handed to them in iraq. It showed footage of at least 10 roadside bombs going off, and the 'insurgents' were claiming the US military is reporting lower numbers than the truth. They were digging up bodies on camera to 'prove' it. Pretty sick shit, whether true or not. (sorry, for those wanting to be totally disturbed, they didn't release the vid on the web and I didn't tape it)

I guess the point is, the whole situation is out of control, neither side can be trusted.

10. i heard a number of times yesterday
17 soldiers had been cut off from there troops inside of fallujah

so this goes along with this story. i never heard the conclusion if they had been rescued only that soldiers were going in to find them
