Bush and the gang are weathering the Storm
I hate to say this, but I think they are riding it out so far.

I was shocked that Bush actually apologized yesterday, it was a necessary move in my opinion but I thought he would be too arrogant to do it.

And now Rumsfeld and the other power players are saying they are sorry too and taking responsibility, they are doing the right thing politically. I am not happy about this, but they seem to be doing a decent job in damage control now after at first blowing it by being silent last week.

Someone must have lit a fire under their rears.

3. that is because the media is being to soft
Bullshit. They are being given a pass AGAIN by the media

For example, how long did these crimes go on?

Why wasn't congress told about it?

Why didn't they READ the memos/reports?

instead you know what the media is saying?

Bush apologizes. He did not apologize for the actions, he apologized for the pain and suffering felt by the prisoners.

That's like me hitting you in the face and saying oh I'm sorry your nose is bleeding. I should be saying "sorry I'm an arrogant a-hole who thinks I have the right to go around attacking people".

8. they will
as much as I enjoyed watching Rumsfeld squirm, my feeling is that all of it will simply go to the memory hole

The Bush propaganda machine is exceptionally astute at handling anythuing that is thrown at them.

And--painful as it is to admit--we do NOT have the Democrats willing to stand up for us.

and, in that case, we will all just deflate and wait for the next "smoking gun" or the next thing that we on DU think is the scandle that will bring Bush and his cabal to it's knees

Will not happen unless we have some Democrats willing to challenge the idiot.

and so far, there have been few who are willing to be that honest.

16. I think you may be right.
I HOPE NOT, but I think yes it probably will down that way.

But of course, it's not like you would expect less from a Totalitarian Nation like Imperial Amerika.

13. My sentiments exactly, remember Watergate
Edited on Fri May-07-04 05:15 PM by 56kid
it's way too soon to know the effect of this.

Watergate took two years to bring down Nixon and a lot of the evidence was out a year before he resigned.

11. Bush apologized to the King of Jordan.
Of course they are going to ride it out. The House, Senate, and Presidency are held by Republicans. They never take responsibility.

15. Wait for the rest to come out
There are many more pictures, probably thousands, along with videos with sound. As they are let out slowly, Rummy will hope to end the political damage to Bush by resigning. It won't work. Bush knew in January and decided (as he always does) that it is someone elses problem.

There is rumored to be a video of soldiers abusing young boys. This has just begun and it is going to bring Bush & Company down.

19. How many storms can they weather?
The storms are piling up on themselves, one after another. They can't ride out the hurricane brought on by their own incompetence and selfishness.

Also, I've noticed that this story is opening up a lot of other information to busy Americans. People are starting to learn that we hired mercenaries, for instance. This is something every news junkie has known for months, but apparently it is news to a lot of Americans.

By November this administration is toast. I feel sure of it. I'm not saying we should get complacent, I'm saying we should attack attack attack the Republican weaknesses because the momentum is on our side!

everything is still FUCKED UP. I don't think they will weather this. Things were messed up before this. This is the straw. The camel is dying.
