What do we expect from a society that can tell itself that starving a disabled woman to death is a Good Thing? She's not a human, she's a "vegetable." Those prisoners aren't human, they're "dogs." Arabs aren't human, they're a "blight." When we play the de-humanizing game there's no end to the horror we can justify.
