Do you really think the President (dubya) had NO IDEA what was happening
with these prisoners?

Anybody watch "24"? I never had seen it until tonight and the "Presdident" made reference to a "memo" that was suppose to have reached him by one of his "advisors" but didn't. When he called this advisor on it, he said," I'm the President of the United States, do you really think I wouldn't have heard about this,"...wow.

Enough said and point made.

Bush can't keep blaming everyone for his incompetence.

Even if the buck doesn't stop at his desk as far as he is concerned, it does to me.

20. please people
You're talking about an Oval Office that has raised buck passing to an art form - everything bad that has happened the past 3.5 years can be directly tied to Clinton getting a BJ from Monica Lewinsky. You expect them to take blame for something like this?

8. I don't care whether...
..he knew or not. If he knew, he deserves to suffer forever in some hellish syrian prison. If he didn't know, he deserves the same because he is the president of the fucking USA, the bastard that ordered the slaughter in Iraq. It is HIS RESPONSIBILITY to know.

Bush can go fuck himself.

his not knowing would prove that he is a complete and total blithering idiot who is not fit to be in the WhiteHouse.

10. He already said he was briefed about it in January
he clearly made a distinction about SEEING the photos recently, which he wants the public to fixate on instead of the fact that he was NOT ignorant of the fact abuses were happening.

14. The Photos are horrible.
It is the photos that are horrible not the events of beatings, rape, acid on skin, anal rape with broom sticks, murder. It's those photos!

That he didn't see those photos until everybody else did is astounding, if true! We will never know.

...keep hammering the message that he is screwed either way. (we are, too)

If he knew, why didn't he do/say something?

If he didn't know, how in the world can we trust a preznit who is so disconnected?

16. It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't
He seems to operate in a world of his own illusion. As many people have observed he is both astonishingly incurious, and almost completely detached from the day to day operation of the government.

Now if you had asked if Cheney knew the answer would be very different, and I'm certain that Rumsfield knew and approved it.

19. The answer is
Of course he knew. The big question is: when did he know? I'd venture he knew about this in January and labeled it top secret so that, he hoped, it would never see the light of day.

They broke the law when the labeled it top secret. I believe that's called a "High Crime". It is an impeachable offense. Let's get him impeached. Let's get rid of those * bastards!

Subject: General Peter Pace, 2nd in Command in Iraq said Prez KNEW ABOUT ABUSE

REMEMBER, BUSH KNEW ABOUT TORTURE IN JANUARY!

General Peter Pace, 2nd in Command in Iraq said Prez KNEW ABOUT ABUSE
Someone should get this video captured before it disappears...
"Congress Questions Pentagon" at
http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/home/main100.shtml

He only said one word... YES.... when asked if the president knew about this... !!!!!!!
Smirky said he found out about it on TV.
I think congress should impeach them all
http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video/main500251.shtml

Kudos to General Pace for letting us know that W. knew.

Btw. General Peter Pace isn't the 2nd in Command in Iraq, he is the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, i.e. the Nation's 2nd highest ranking military officer.

http://www.defenselink.mil/bios/pace_bio.html

http://www.dod.mil/transcripts/2004/tr20040505-1427.html

PACE: Well, two different parts need to be understood. One is the reporting up the chain of command, which was done immediately. On the 13th of January, the allegations by the soldier inside the unit were reported to his Army chain of command. On the 14th of January, the Criminal Investigative Division team was sent to do the investigation. The phone calls were made up the chain of command. I know I knew about it within hours of the 14th of January. And everyone was kept apprised orally of the ongoing investigation.
The major general completed the investigation. And what happens with the paperwork itself is that each commander in the chain looks at the work, reads it in detail, does his analysis of what he or she should be doing with it, makes their decisions, and then sends it up the chain.
So the fact that the paperwork did not get to Washington DC did not mean that the information did not. In fact, it did.
STORM: So you’re saying that General Richard Myers was well aware of the situation and that the president was well aware of the situation as well?
PACE: Yes.

********************************

From photo op with the King of Jordan...

Q Mr. President, if this problem at the prisons was first noticed late last year, why has it taken this long for actions to be taken? And what did you tell Secretary Rumsfeld yesterday?

PRESIDENT BUSH: I tell him I should have known about the pictures and the report. And as I understand it, the -- General Kimmitt declared to the press corps, in Iraq I believe it was, that there was an ongoing investigation. In other words, he made it clear. The Army said, we've discovered something, we've discovered an issue, and, therefore, we're now going to investigate it. It was a declaration to -- to the world that there was an issue, and then there is a process.

meanwhile, I officially dub this the "Sgt. Shultz defense"
