who else wants to see Rumsfeld stay the course?
is this an old subject?

is the junta STUPID enough to keep him on?

what could be worse for them than to keep this arrogant prick out there, twisting in the wind of interNATIONAL outrage?

they've shown that, in the face of intense pressure, they'll cave on just about everything, short of releasing Cheney's energy papers (leaving the obvious impression that there's something REALLY REALLY bad in them, as has been discussed here at length)

why on earth are they saying idiotic things like he's the BEST SecDec ever, and to lay off?

do they think the media are going to do their bidding on this, as well?

they certainly did so til the pictures came out, but this is asking too much, now.

and, as for the Iraqis, it's MUCH worse than what we hear.....

This is Hell had a guy on yesterday, Dar Jamail, http://blog.newstandardnews.net/iraqdispatches, who's been in Fallujah for a month, and he says EVERYBODY there......everybody, HATES us to the max, and wants us out YESTERDAY. He said that NOT ONE person he talked to, and that's what he does, all day, wants us there anymore:

"'We will fight them again!'
An older Iraqi man is wailing near the grave of a loved one in the dusty heat of a football stadium converted into a cemetary

1. god help us
"We walk slowly under the scorching sun along dusty rows of humble headstones. She continues reading them aloud to me: “Old man wearing jacket with black dishdasha, near industrial center. He has a key in his hand.” Many of the bodies were buried before they could be identified. Tears are welling up in my eyes as she quietly reads: “Man wearing red track suit.” She points to another row, “Three women killed in car leaving city by American missile.”"

2. this is the typical response of average Fallujahnis, according to Jamail:
"Abdul Muhammed tells me, 'When the Americans start patrolling on Monday, even more people will fight them this time because so many people need revenge now.'"

5. not sure I understand
all those who want to vote for bush WILL, despite anything that happens.

as Janeane Garofalo says, those people have some sort of character flaw

seriously

swing voters, on the other hand, if they really are, can't help but be affected by the mindboggling hubris, as well as the idiotic pronouncements of DR's supposed excellent performance.

some winger on TV today even brought up his inability to answer McCain's basic question on the genesis of interrogation rules, as well as his lack of knowledge of basic command structure

even a suckass UPI pentagon reporter on Kurtz today completely refuted Frum's assertion that DR is a detail guy, by asserting that he's the same sort of hands-off administrator as the chimp, only caring about results, NOT how they're achieved

maybe, if the media, at long last, starts doing just a small percentage of the job they should be doing, the mass audience will begin to see what a monstrous combination of corruption, arrogance, mendacity, and above all, utter inCOMpetence comprises this junta

4. I looked at photos of Rumsfeld
as he testified before the Congressional committee on Friday. I looked closely at his face. The eyes were filled with fear. They were downcast. His mouth, which for decades has been frozen in an arrogant smirk, was still frozen in that position. But the eyes said everything.

Done in by kids. 21-year old kids with cameras. He knows he's gone too far this time.

And all he can do it wait. He's at the mercy of whoever holds the damning evidence, which has yet to be released.

6. yes, but.......
how long will they try to keep him in his post?

and do you think it's better for Kerry that he stays in as long as possible, or that he resign/be fired ASAP?

just think how bad it'll make the chimpo look if he has to turn around and accept his resignation (the only way he'll fire him is if they focus group it to make him look like a decisive "leader")

8. I contend that it's better to unload him
tomorrow. Here's what I believe will happen: Rumsfeld knows he's standing before a tsunami, a tidal wave of worldwide condemnation. More than anything he wants to keep the machinery going, but he's going to concede. Within days, he'll submit his resignation.

The Bush administration will be absolutely rudderless. They'll be panicky, trying to figure out what to do next. They'll consider promoting Wolfowitz to SOD. Chances are they won't do it.

They'll probably put in some general, maybe Myers or Franks, or some other brigadier general who can fill the gap.

Once they do this, they will uncover a hornet's nest in Rumsfeld's office. They'll discover a lot of incriminating information, memos, leaks and cover-ups. They will probably also discover that he wasn't doing his job.

The guy's erratic, doesn't follow through on a lot of stuff. Recall the Saddam general they suddenly threw in oversee Fallujah. Just as suddenly, he's gone.

This is all Rumsfeld in "action".

7. Let this radioactive rotting ship called the Bush administration,
go down with all hands on board. I doubt if these goons would pick a bettor successor than Rumsfield, just a more clever one.

9. I don't want Rumsfeld to resign
If he resigns, people will think "problem solved". If he stays on with the full and arrogant and agressive support of people like Cheney (like today), people will realize that the whole admin is guilty TOGETHER.

11. should be obvious, yes?
what do you think about effect on swing voters?

this photo stuff really is potent, isn't it?

can you imagine what would have happened if they'd had PIX of Clinton BJs?

judging from the reaction so far to this latests, I wonder if he'd have been convicted by the Senate.

this thing looks to, uh, blow up bigtime if the photos/videos to come are as bad as advertised

did you hear Hersh say that there are pictures of a prisoner with dog at him, followed by ones with WOUNDS, and BLOOD on the floor?

New Yorker has them, but would NOT print them!

10. I see the need
to demand accountablity. BUt then if Rummy resigns, WOlfowitz will be SOD so that won't make much difference.

Keep him around to remind everyone what a mess this all is.

12. It's obvious that Cheney wants him to stay, so case closed.
As far as him being dismissed by Bush.

13. how stupid was cheney to say all that idiotic crap?
are they that tone deaf, or just completely filled to the gills with hubris?

and, I mentioned above that he won't be fired; I don't see how they can be dumb enough to not "allow" him to resign, blaming it on some sort of combination of unpatriotic dems, interfering with the war on terra, along with the left wing media, attacking our greatest SOD ever.

if the furor keeps up apace, I give him less than a week, but hope he stays til the bitter end.....no longer than Nov. 2, of course (OK, Jan 21, 05)
