but we haven't bought beef since the beginning of this 'scare'
which is a 'tip of the iceberg' revelation

switch to chicken, pork, fish, lamb

11. I think the Atkins Diet craze has meat in more demand so
prices are up. I know milk prices are up because farmers can get more $ by slaughtering the cows than they make milking them.

Also, unless that cow walked to the store themselves, it costs more to transport anything because of the increase in gas prices.

16. It's much cheaper...
if you buy part of a cow (or the whole thing) and cut it up yourself. Also, there's less question about contamination.
