What does John Kerry stand for?
I have been contributing to John Kerry's campaign all along, but when the press quoted Kerry as saying I would consider appointing judges that were anti-abortion as long as Roe V Wade would not be overturned, I have to shake my head.

What DOES JOHN KERRY STAND FOR?

That is the dumbest statement I have heard. Is John Kerry going to appoint judges who are "bigiots" as long as the civial rights act is not overturned?

He had better get his act together on this one, or he does not deserve to be president.

I have so far contributed about 600 dollars to his campaign. I will not make further contributions until I understand Mr. Kerry stands for something?

3. He needs to learn more about the soundbytes is all
He was saying that the good judges decide on the law. In the cases of the best ones you couldn't tell what their politics were by their decisions. In the case of judges like that he would not have a problem appointing one who didn't agree with him personally. That's a very important point about the judiciary but is going to be lost in the stupid headlines.

5. Just remember this:
Between now and election day every thing this man says is going to be misconstrued by the "enemy" to manipulate the public into not voting for Kerry. We are the front lines in a war. We must not submit to this kind of trash talk. All you have to do is hear one of this man's speeches to know what he stands for.

Easy - this man stands for our side. Pro-choice, allow the social system to help the poor, pro-environment, and judicious foreign policy.

6. Personal beliefs vs. judicial opinion
Edited on Thu May-20-04 09:06 AM by MallRat
It sounds to me like Kerry would nominate a judge who was personally against abortion, so long as he/she did not let religious beliefs cloud his/her judicial opinion.

If this is what he meant, then shame on him for not being CLEARER. He needs to be more succinct.

edited to fix grammar...

7. the party leadership thinks the only way to get elected
is to distance oneself from anything secular, anti-war, union related, etc. (heavily influenced by the DLC). I ought to know. I joined the DLC awhile back (Clinton years-thought I would look at different ideas) and still get the Blueprint Magazine. The present issue:"Getting Religion" Democrats shouldn't be scared of religion, "Campaigning Dangerously" Calls Dean's internet campaign Dot-Bomb, "Trade Myths" In defense of globalization, "Jihadist Virus" Basic endorsement of current foreign policy, etc.
