"Ron from Colorado Springs" Strikes Again!!!
He's a right-wing idiot who phones in to Sean Hannity's radio pukefest all the time - he and I have had our share of battles over the years on local talk radio shows.

Anyway, Ron just phoned in to Sean's show to say that "liberals and the liberal media are a bigger threat to this country than the terrorists".

Now you see what I'm up against in this state.....

1. We had a letter to the editor in our Bakersfield paper that ended like
this, "now don't forget, a vote for a Democrat is a vote for a terrorist."

I am amazed at how polarized we are so much so that we can coll our fellow citizens terrorists in the paper and it gets printed.

3. Haven't you noticed, moutnainman? If we try to ratchet rhetoric up
to even 10% of that, the letter is summarily rejected.

The Orwellian Double-Standard exists, though perhaps it has softened just a bit in recent months.

Go ahead, try to write a letter that ends "a vote for Bush is a vote for Bin Laden".

I guarantee you summary rejection from "mainstream newspapers" 100% of the time, even if you try 1000 times.

It it hard to pin down a cause. Surely the Bushevik could not have infiltrated/parasitized all editoral staffs, could they?

Some of it is that, much of it are the "sea changes" the infiltrators at AP, CNN, and most other places TV and print have caused to institutionalize Orwellian Double-Standards.

Madness, but there you have it.

6. My liberal parents in Bakersfield
get sooooooooo pissed when they read crap like that in the Californian.

The Californian had a message board (they've since shut is down) and I used to crack up reading messages about "that damn LIBERAL Bakersfield Californian".

Yeah, right.

8. Hitler did that too
for him liberals were just after Jews in terms of who should be exterminated, who was the enemy of the nation, etc.

4. And were it reversed, i.e:
"Remember, a vote for a republican is a vote for a terrorist," the letter would not have been printed at all.......or would have gotten a lot more publicity than a few "I'm shocked!"s on some obscure political internet message board. You can seee the headlines, the outrage already: "DEMS COMPARE BUSH TO TERRORISTS: HAVE THEY FINALLY GONE TOO FAR?"

We can't compare Bush to Hitler without being blackballed, even though all the evidence supports this comparison.

They CAN compare the average democrat to Osama Bin Laden and not only get away with it, but have their hate-spew published in newspapers, even though all the evidence refutes this comparison.

Some "liberal media" we got here in the US of A, huh?

5. What liberal media?
The Minneapolis Star Tribune is supposed to be a liberal paper (like the LA Times, NYT, WP...)

Yet, two weekends in a row it praised McGuire, who is the head of a health insurance company and who, at $93 mil, is the highest paid executive in Minnesota. One would think that the strib will have an oped or at least a letter about the absurdity of it, but all one hears is the sound of silence.

Al Franken is right. It is not about a liberal media, it is about the media as a business entity with only one goal - to make profit for the owners, be they a family or many shareholders.

7. Wow you mean Mother Jones crashed itself into the WTC?
Or planned to? Did Air America, that sounds like it flies. Oh wait I get it, the 'liberal media' is the NYT or the Washington Post right.

All those peace rallys really are a threat to the country, well at least to the MIC anyway. Good thing we have wonderfully shielded jackboot cops with guns to protect Amurka from the peace protestors...

I met a repuke freak recently, we were having dinner at a friends and over dinner we got to talking about what kinda local businesses might be nice to have near or in our small towns. I suggested a coffee shop bookstore and the repuke immediately said "Starbucks would be good". I was thinking more along the lines of locally owned rural style. Maybe something like Northern Lights (?) in SF.
