New abuse pics & info -- who leaked them?
A chess game is being played, friends.

Today the Republicans tried to move past the scandal.

Two high-ranking Pentagon officials said too much time was being taken away from their duties having to testify to Congress. That was the drill today. Shut up already. It's over.

Tonight we have more photos, and this:

"Previously secret sworn statements by detainees..." telling gruesome details of torture.

If they were previously secret, who released them to The Washington Post?

SOMEONE isn't letting Rumsfeld off the hook.

1. I think it might be
Wolfowitz, the sneaky bastard probably wants Rumsfelds job. He definately has the ability to leak them without getting caught.

2. From my understanding, these are the photos from the "new" disc
Not the photos viewed by Congress.

More discussion in this LBN thread... it's an important point to clarify, and I'm still a little foggy about it:

3. Two Officials?
I thought Congress pulled the 4 highest ranking officers back to the US to answer questions.

At any rate, someone isn't happy with the situation and whoever it may be has got a lot more testosterone than Oliver North ever thought about having.

6. two officials...
..meaning the two that I saw spouting the spin about too much time away from their duties. One of those was Rummy.

So this is partly coming from someone doing the investigation on up.

WaPo said they had other photos at least a week ago. Don't recall hearing them say anything about having videos before tonight.

7. I heard somewhere
that the CIA could have leaked these photos to get back at the administration for leaking Wilson's wife identity. No evidence but it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

8. I think it's the CIA too
And apparently the Army isn't happy either.

United Press International: Army, CIA want torture truths exposed

Even worse for Rumsfeld and his coterie of neo-conservative true believers who have run the Pentagon for the past 3½ years, three major institutions in the Washington power structure have decided that after almost a full presidential term of being treated with contempt and abuse by them, it's payback time. Those three institutions are: The United States Army, the Central Intelligence Agency and the old, relatively moderate but highly experienced Republican leadership in the United States Senate.
