Funny, I thought it was rape/murder/torture/etc.

Ah, Gen. Meyers. What a card!

1. Is it possible to make more of an idiotic statement?

Every day they outdo themselves.

2. Has he asked them?
There is no plan. There are 40 days to go until June 30 and we have heard no details of a plan.

3. what I found most amusing...
... is that he was asked that if the Iraqi "govt" DID ask us to leave, HOW would we.

His response: a longwinded "they won't!"

5. "they won't"
because we would revoke their sovereignty if they did.

Oh how I love irony.

6. It's just a regurgitation of what Paul Bremer said on May 14th...
...his "We will leave if they ask us to leave, but they're not going to do that, so we're not leaving" speech. Inspirational, timely, and inspirational...wait, I already said that.

"Bremer says U.S. will leave Iraq if new government asks
Rulers not likely to seek quick exit, administrator says"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4978361/

"BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. administrator of Iraq told regional officials Friday that the United States would leave Iraq if requested to do so by the new Iraqi government — although he thinks such a move is unlikely.

L. Paul Bremer told a delegation from Iraq’s Diyala province that American forces would not stay where they were unwelcome.

“If the provisional government asks us to leave we will leave,” Bremer said, referring to an Iraqi administration due to take power June 30. “I don’t think that will happen, but obviously we don’t stay in countries where we’re not welcome.”

7. He must mean the 18% in the last Iraqi poll who want us to stay
Guess they are on the payroll.

The other 82% want us gone.

Who does he think he's fooling?

11. Well, a FEW Iraqis will be VERY afraid
When we do leave, as happens everywhere else we mess up, those that supported us will be killed.

Now, we haven't always messed up, but it's been about, what, 55-60 years since the Marshall Plan?
