13. And it's funny how they want to take that one back...
When people decided to use it on the issues of gay marrage, legalization of pot, assisted suicide, and importing drugs from canada...

7. The idea of personal accountability is good
It is consistent with nature. However, personal accountability doesn't necessarily mean cutting off all help. It means giving people the tools they need to be personally accountable.

Also, note that calling a higher power is exactly the opposite of personal accountability.

A lot of the basic ideas of conservatism are good...but the ignorant tools that spew such ideas always end up distorting for their own benefit.

10. Trickle down economics

Worked like a charm.I remember living through it in the '80s. Korporate execs got filthy rich while poor working rubes like me damn near starved to death. I'm sure that was the plan, even though they didn't advertis it that way. :grr:

25. The only ones I can think of at the moment are at the state...
...level. The first would be the reclassification of certain crimes from a state to a federal purview. Now if you use a gun in the commission of a crime, or just be near one in some cases, you can look forward to a long jail term; gang members can now be prosecuted under RICO. The other is moving certain petty drug offenses from a criminal court to a medical one so you won't go to jail or get a bad mark on your record. I guess I could also throw in the Concealed Handgun License Law but that law caused us to lose our last Democratic Governor and gave the world George Bush.

23. Slavery worked pretty well for a few centuries.
The Nazi death camps also turned a profit for a couples years.

The problems for conservative ideas is that they don't work once you start treating people equally, with compassion and consideration.
