I'm o.k. now,....until the next batch of photos comes out
i spent all day yesterday in a rage, on seeing the latest batch of abuse photos. the image of the man covered in his own excrement got to me. forced to defecate in his own hands, smear it all over his body and face, and stand there like christ on the cross. i became enraged, and it caught me off guard.

i wish they'd release all the horrid photos, damn the republicans who want them hidden. the leaking of 3 or 4 at a time is more damaging than a sudden drop i think. drip drip drip, leak leak leak.

i don't know, maybe this is part of the great scheme of things, the manipulation of our emotions to the point of insanity. we the consumers of news and political info are being tortured too. we who feel empathy for the prisoners of war have our guts wrenched, while the repubs see the images and laugh, and say, 'buck up, this is war, get used to it'.

repubs are enraged that they are being released at all, and i'm enraged at seeing them. it's like looking upon a horror that changes your life from that awful moment on. it puts a whole new spin on everything you ever thought about america, and what it supposedly stands for.

they warned me though, i admit it. rumsfeld himself said the worst is yet to be seen. jesus, those words chill me.

1. As long as you're not "comfortably numb," you'll be o.k., mopaul!
When you stop caring, I'll start worrying about you, Bud!

2. I know the feeling
I have been so depressed over all this. It is hard to explain but the pride in my country is at a low I never thought I would feel. It hurts.

6. While the overwhelming message is negative these days,
I find it inherently positive that you're upset and concerned about the state of your country. Empathy is an under appreciated quality, take solace in the fact that you are the real pulse, representative of what the U.S. is. The world knows the facade is becoming more and more transparent.

3. "stand there like christ on the cross"
Yeah Mo, that one got to me too.

It makes me sick.

Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.

5. Yeah, it's horrible.
Remember though, your anger and this community's anger show that there is still hope. You're angry for the right reasons - this behaviour is unacceptable, period.

One thing that's always amazed me is the Republican's ability to orchestrate an all out witch-hunt, and Democrat party's apparent inability (or perhaps it's willingness...) to do so. The Democratic Party needs to drop all pretenses and get vicious (non-violently of course). America's future is becoming the side bet on the table. If the roles were reversed and it was a Democrat President that had been at the helm through all of this you know as well as I do that the President would have already been impeached, to say the least. Frist and Lott would be doing cartwheels in public.

Bottom line is Democrats, high ranking ones, need to take the gloves off and start throwing sh*t down. No more crap, no more talking about moral high ground, no more lip service, no more any of it. Use the media, they're obviously willing participants. The upper floors of the party need to state unequivocally, "You sir, are a f*cking liar and I will do everything in my power to make sure you spend your life ruing the day you placed a dollar value on human life". If there was ever a time for re-evaluation it is now.

The U.S. cannot in any way, shape or form "fix" the world when its own society is in a state of flux, bordering on chaos. I'm 31 years old and for the first time am legitimately fearful of your government. Not of Americans, your government. Like I'm not afraid of China's citizens, but I am fearful of their government.

This may be a defining moment for the Democratic Party. Too many good people are getting hurt.

7. the Democrats want them hidden too
our entire corrupt government wants them covered up. None of them have the decency and honor to ritually commit suicide for their shameful actions either. What has our country come to?

I can empathize with how you feel about the pictures, I've been beyond disgust for two weeks now.
