What's Chimpy's excuse for not being able to pronounce Abu Ghraib?
Not enough rehearsal time?
Small type on the teleprompter?
Gas at an inopportune moment in the speech?

He tried three times!!

It is has rivetted the attention of the entire world for the past two weeks. It has ruined the moral authority of the United States for our lifetimes, most likely.

But BUSH has been out bike-riding, and hasn't even bothered to learn the name of the place.

What're we giving them on June 30th? Roses?

Oh yes, and besides the multiple manglings of Abu Ghraib, there was also "...help establish the sability..."

and "2nd Light Calvary Regiment."

AHA! Proof that Howard Stern is correct - "President Jesus!"

10. He doesn't watch TV, doesn't read newpapers.
Its possible he's hadn't ever heard the name until he started practicing the speech. That's what happens when you and/or your cadre act in a way as to specifically rule out outside viewpoints and information.

Edited on Tue May-25-04 07:34 AM by arwalden
A nervous giggle though. Not a giggle of delight, but a giggle borne of fear. --- It's little wonder why the rest of the world has such little regard for our country.

He hasn't a CLUE that a word's pronunciation and inflection changes its meaning.

22. This has been enjoyable ...
I have enjoyed reading this thread.

I love it "Abu Gurum" - Harry Potter!

The best reply: He's an Imbecile!

And really, Bush shouldn't have had any problem with Abu Ghraib since we would assume that he has been hearing about this and talking about it for the past three weeks.

So ultimately the only rational reason to the question of why he cannot pronounce Abu Ghraib really is that he is an imbecile!!!!

This man is a total MORON! I have written MSNBC and CNN regarding this man's lying speech tonite. I don't understand how these media channels can sleep at night when they misconstrue the truth and roll their eyes when Democrats speak.

I also wish this was on all the local channels so the "Americans" can see for themselves how sneaky this rotweiller is.

Did you get a look at the audience? I thought they almost looked like Stepford wives (and husbands)....

52. The Reason is Obvious
The President doesn't watch the news!

That's where most of us learned how to pronounce "Abu Ghraib". We heard it pronounced on the television news, maybe listening to NPR or something.

But Bush lives in a vacuum. He doesn't read the newspaper, he doesn't watch or listen to the news. He's like a contestant on Big Brother... oblivious to what's going on in the world around him.

And that makes him a very dangerous Chief Executive.

So I say to you: Ask not what our country can do for us, but what our country can do for we!

He was using that old standby - phonics. There was this word on the teleprompter that he had never seen before. So, did he just give up? No! He tried sounding it out.

Abu, Abu gar, abu gar abe.

If he were a third grader, I'd give him A for effort.

Unfortunately, he's president of the United States. And, what's that say about us?

50. Serious Question: Does Anyone In This Administration Actually BELIEVE
that Bush* is competent? Does anyone honestly believe that he has a clue?

Or is it a conspiracy to cover up facts, ignore the obvious, and muddle through as best as can be done? I'm thinking that among senior officials it's an actual organized and active conspiracy... among staffers, it's an unspoken yet understood conspiracy of silence.
