Please respond to LTTE in the Daily Record, Morris County, NJ
The editors have a dislike for me because of my pointed criticisms, so it would be great if someone else could take up the cudgel (letters@dailyrecord.com and include "letters" in the subject line) and beat this wingnut silly:

"Clinton was the one responsible

To the Editor:

This is in response to Phil DeNunzio's letterof May 26. His dream of being back in the Clinton years would be better classified as a nightmare.

The following is an excerpt from "How Chinagate led to 9/11," by Jean Pearce, FrontPageMagazine.com, May 25;
'As the 9/11 Commision tries to ucover what kept intelligence agences from preventing September 11, it has overlooked two vital factors: Jamie Gorelick and Bill clinton. Gorelick...helped erect the walls between the FBI, CIA and local investigators that made 9/11 inevitable. However, she was merely expanding the policy Bill Clinton established with Presidential Directive 24. What has been underreported is why the policy came about: to thwart investigations into the Chinese funding of Clinton's reelection campaign, and the favors he bestowed upon them in return...'

Obviouls, clinton had no regard for the negative effects that his policy changes would have on our (and his) country. He didn't care that by creating policies that made it easier to cover up chinagated, he allowed terrorists to plot right under our noses, and the authorities, with their hands tied could do little. Perhaps if clinton hadn't taken money from the Chinese, the trade center would still be standing and the thousands who died would still be alive. But he did and they died. Clinton's legacy: 9/11. What's next? I fear the Clinton legacy is just beginning.

Substitute 'Bush' for "Clinton' in the above. Would you still be so willing to overlook the scandal?

Bill Caso
Rockaway"

1. I would be the worst person in the world to try to rebut this. All I wannt
to say to him is what the f**k? How stupid is that and what kind of a moron would believe that? Everyone who listens to anything knows that neither Clinton nor Gorelick came up with that memo, it was a leftover from Reagan? that had simply been propagated by every administration since.

4. I wouldn't be much heplp rebutting this either but
I would mention the August 6 PDB, the Phoenix memo and so forth. It's painfully obvious that there was some sort of knowledge about the plot. Blaming this on Clinton is just absurd.

2. I'm in California

But perhaps somebody in your area can point out that Sadaam Hussein was Cheney's biggest client, and provided a lot of the money that was donated to the * campaign. Perhaps if Bush hadn't taken the money which came from the Iraqis, the trade center would still be standing, etc. Clinton, at least, increased the budget for fighting terrorism and made it a priority, while the priority of the pukes was to attack Clinton, so they could take over the White House. Once they did, terrorism was no longer a priority.

I can guarantee you that if a Democratic had been in the White House, their response when being told about 9/11 would not have been to keep reading a children's book instead of leading the country in an effective response. The only response * finally came up with, was to invade a country that had nothing to do with 9/11.

Just imagine if Clinton had showed no reaction whatsoever, no less an appropriate reaction, to a national crisis, and had then lied about weapons of mass destruction, and, ignoring the advice of experts, invaded a foreign country with insufficient troops who were inadequately supplied. Would you still be so willing to overlook the scandal?

(If there isn't anyone in your area, I'd be happy to email, but I'd need the date of the moran's LTTE, and would appreciate any help with the content.)

5. It was in today's paper
I really hated the header, "September 11 Attacks: Clinton was the one responsible." This area is very heavily Repug, and they eat that stuff up.

If you choose to write (and I hope you and others will!), the Daily Wretched will accept letters of 250 words or less. Include your address and daytime and evening phone numbers.

I can help you with editing/proofing, but unfortunately, I'm on a big project today and cannot help with content and fact checking.

Thanks, SC!

:pals:

3. This prompted a bubble of an idea in me ...
Do you recall when Ashcroft testified before the 9/11 Commission and took the opening statement as an opportunity to bash Jamie Gorelich and Bill Clinton? It reminds me of an old southern strategy for dealing with hot water politically: admit nothing, deny everything, make countercharges.

6. Right
Before Clinton, the G-men all palled around together and gave each other tips and pep talks and stuff. Damn that Bill Clinton! Damn him, for destroying their little fraternity of love and supportiveness and information sharing.
