Kerry attacked for paying respects
Just popped into the twilight zone over at freeperville and even as they spew their outrage ay anyone who says a negative word about Reagan, they are ripping apart kerry for paying his respects. Where is the outrage from the media...these right wing nuts are attacking a man who simply went to pay his respects. I fully expext a bill orielly talking points memo pointing out the shrill attacks against Kerry for making this decent gesture.

1. Reagan's casket is supposed to be their political sled to victory
They'll use it against Kerry in any way they can, and his efforts to neutralize these efforts will be attacked as much as possible.

4. mopaul had the right concept, that's for sure
Edited on Tue Jun-08-04 10:46 PM by jpgray
The Daily Show was just commenting on Fox News asking Newt Gingrich what Reagan 'would have thought' of various aspects of the Bush administration. As one would expect, the Gipper gave a very positive posthumous endorsement.

9. That's right.
They've gotta try to ride Ronnie to victory one last time, to win one for the gipper. It's either that or rely on Chimpy's coattails.

3. It's disgusting
That no one can let people express the simplest amount of respect without getting shredded for it.

The extreme right just pisses me off.

5. I was just commenting to my mother
earlier tonight (she's a die-hard Republican) about how respectful Bill Clinton and John Kerry have been. I can't believe these people: they'd attack Kerry for calling Reagan out for all the evils his administration unleashed on this world, and they'd attack him for paying his respects.

Personally, I think ever public figure from the left that I've heard so far has been extremely classy about this whole thing. Fuck the freepers: they'll bitch about anything we do.

6. I think its fair to say Reagan's death brought out the worst
in both sides.

Unfortunately, I expect this kind of thing to come out of Free Republic. I didn't expect that in some of the reactions I observed here.

12. Actually, I have a little sympathy for them
Have you seen the pictures and video of Kerry in that cream colored suit? He's freakin' gorgeous. Chimp looks really insipid against his class act.

they'd have considered it appropriate?!

If he hadn't gone they'd be screaming about how horrible it was that he didn't pay his respects to The Greatest President Of All Time.

14. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.....
They're pretty funny trying to find some reason to get outraged....

My favorite posts had to do with the fact that Kerry didn't stand in
line for hours like ordinary folks who came to pay their respects,
and how that indicates what an arrogant rich guy he is.
I guess Freepers think Bush is working class. I guess they think
Republican big-wigs DID stand in line to view Reagan. I guess they
think union-busting Reagan was a friend to working people. :eyes:

17. Reading FR...
this morning, I saw one of them not only bragging about producing some semi-bogus ID and getting escorted to the Library and head of the line, but also getting caught with a loaded gun in his car. He whined that he hadn't "finished" getting the permit. Nonetheless, as a FreakRepublican, he gained access to the weepatorium.

arggghh!

18. Those idiots still obsessed with us?
I swear, anytime a new post hits DU, they run home like the little wussies they are and tell mommy.

Well, I guess it must be that difficult to defend bullshit policies that are shafting them anyway. They're too naive to believe they're getting hosed by a party that doesn't really give a shit about them.

I guess that makes them true conservatives.

23. yeah, i wonder why they wont discuss Kucinich's statement on Reagan's
death.

"More than any president in modern times, he understood the essential optimism of the American people. He evoked it and exemplified it. His passing at this troubling hour in our national experience therefore is exceedingly sad and leaves a great void." -- U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Cleveland.

29. They're most upset he didn't die on October 29
Ronnie's passing at the end of October would have let them pull out the "win one for the Gipper" speech.

But now they can't use it.
