Who thinks that Dick Durbin should replace Daschle?
The more I see of this guy the more I wish that I had him as my seantor. Lately he's done a great job trashing the administration, especially today during the Asscroft hearing. This guy really has a spine, unlike our current leader. And while we're at it, how about Jon Corzine for whip?

1. Kerry Placed Durbin As Co-Chair Of DNC
IMO, he should be president. Dick is the best.

One of my school girl crushes too! :)

2. Daschle as Leader helps us keep the south dakota senate seat
south dakota is a republican state,b ut one reason we win both senate seats is because daschle is democratic leader and if we control senate , he is senate leader. for them it's a big thing because they are such a small state, yet have someone from their state in a top position in the united states.

5. Doesn't do us any good if our leader can't take the right positions...
I understand that being from South Dakota he has to vote on positions that are popular in his state. Unfortunately, this is a conflict of interest because the rest of his party wouldn't be taking thse positions if he wasn't. The IWR, for example, would've been much more of a battle for Bush had Daschle not supported it. He's created somewhat of an identity problem for the senate democrats and there's very little unity in their votes. After this election he'll have 4 terms and all the seniority in the world so we don't really need to worry about his seat. As far as the junior senator goes, he's not up for another 4 years and should he loose just because Daschle's not leader anymore then it'd be a worthwile trade to get better leadership.

12. The battles which could be one with a powerful
well spoken Democratic Senetorial Leader far outweigh the value of one more Democrat from South Dakota. Not to mention the fact that Daschle is well liked in the state. By both Republicans and Democrats alike. I seriously a marginally functional idiot like John Thune stands an ice cubes chance against him. Then again I could be wrong....What one needs to keep in mind is that a South Dakota Democrat is comparable to an Illinois Republican....and a South Dakota Republican is comparable to one who is a proudly open Illinois fascist.

4. Durbin is a great Senator and is a great representative of the people
And he has guts. He has been one of the handful of Senators who have stood up against BushCo these past three years.

And I got stuck with the other Illinois Senator. But in November it will get much better because we will have Obama.

6. I think Durbin is GREAT!
He is not however without some of the same type of baggage as Daschel. Methanol support pops into mind. A disease most Midwestern pols have.

7. That's a no brainer. He's just as smart, more effective as a spokesperson,
tougher, and he doesn't have to tone down the whole party's voice just so he can get reelected in a +10 republican state.

8. Dodd or Reid would be better...
...perhaps Nelson but like Durbin he would be too polarising really so Dodd or Reid either is fine by me, Durbin would be a bad choice.

10. No he'd be an excellent choice

13. The leader needs to come from the left wing of the party
While Dodd and Reid are good senators, they are too moderate. The leader needs to represent the agenda we want, not the agenda that we will get after compromises with the other side.

11. His speeches are rousing!
So, may I remind you to be sure to pick up the phone, call his office, and let him know you appreciate what he's doing, and let him know what you're expecting from him in terms of Taking Back Our Party!

For too long, we've let the Reich Wing make all the noise, and look what happened. It's up to us to call and write, call and write, until we have our Party back.
