Canadians - what is your opinion on Uncle Sam?
I have to admit - before I found DU I was very..anti-American. But after being here, I realized there was a rejection of Bush and I felt better.
Growing up the way I did, I was always "trained" to believe we were better than Americans....and we had something more to offer.

Sept 11th changed some of that, I remember being sad for the USA. And feeling a kinship with them. I said whatever Canada can do to help I'm all for it....then Bush started being Bush.
So for a bit, I was very anti-USA.

But, what even more flexed me was a trip I did three days after. I was ona Bus from Woodstock NB to Quebec City. The bus was full of Americans. They were all talkng about the situation and somefolks bought doughnuts and other food to the passengers, I heard tales of who they were and where they were headed.

Now, I feel a ki9nship with Americans - no matter what I hear, I know there are great Americans out there. So I do look at it as one of the greatest friendships in the world. And I'm confident the next election will prove that.

2. I may be out of touch but
I think most citizens of other countries (especially our Canadian brothers sisters) understand that Bush doesn't represent America.

Proof alone can be found that he didn't win the majority vote even after stealing votes! DU is just a start. Come visit down here sometime and ask a typical citizen how much they like Bush.

.... than the 8 smallest states, plus DC! So many Americans now live up here.

He is working to get out the vote, with the "Democrats Abroad" organization. There are certainly a lot of very progressive Americans, all over the world, and I refuse to let the Bush cabal ruin the good name that these fine folks have built up with so much hard work.

Because that means that the "terra-ists" will have won! (By making us accept Bush's America as the "real" one.)

5. I was never anti-American but I have to admit, I was beginning to...
wonder after bush stole the election and their seemed to be only muted protest but then I found DU, thank goodness! It was a major relief to find that, indeed, the US media was not reporting the outrage at bush's coup and I found that legitimate anger on DU. Thanks again, Skinner and all, for this great site!

6. THE Uncle Sam? He's always pointing and rolling up his sleeves,
itching for a fight. I think he beats his wife.

I pity his nieces and nephews.
