Apparently William F. Buckley Jr. reads bartcop.com
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=128&ncid=742&e=8&u=/ucwb/20040622/cm_ucwb/aspecialodium

"....A broad search of anti-Bush Web sites suggests the scope of festering animosity toward Bush. We have, e.g., BartCop, described by a compendium of Web sites as "Dedicated to hammering Bush and right-wing hypocrisy, featuring cartoons, daily news update." The Smirking Chimp gives "news, rants, activism and other things anti-Bush," while the utilitarian Wage Slave Journal gives the George W. Bush Scorecard of Evil. BushAndCheneySuck.com is modestly "dedicated to licking Bush in 2000 and beyond."......

....Nobody from the world of BartCop is going to end up loving Bush himself, but everyone has to gain from a lowering of voices. This isn't going to happen until after this era's Pearl Harbor, on Nov. 2, a long four months away."

3. Who else hears us but the like-minded. They have to seek it and read.
The deafening voices must be drowning out all the network news.

4. God, I Have a Hard Time Understanding His Recent Editorials
Buckley doesn't seem to edit himself any longer.

He seems to be worrying about the appearance of illegitimacy if Bush wins with less than 50% of the popular vote. And I don't understand the reference to "this era's Pearl Harbor".

7. Isn't Buckley like 523 years old?
or something like that? Has anyone seen a recent picture of him? He's not looking too healthy.

10. He's been looking like warmed up shit for quite some time. Like
someone who died a few years ago but hasn't figured out they're dead yet and no one has the guts to tell them.

15. I used to see him on PBS when he was doing commentary ...
on some weekly show I can't remember the name of. And all I could think of was: When is he going to change the oil in that suit?

23. That's it EXACTLY!
I always thought Reagan looked like he'd been enbalmed when he wasn't paying attention or something. It's that waxy look - all conservatives have it.

11. He Went to Yale in the Early 50s
If he graduated in 1954 at age 22, that would --surprise -- only make him 72, plus any time added for military service or a delay in going to college. (Or for repeating 7th grade.)

Doesn't it seem like conservatives never die? I am beginning to think that they are all computerized mummies.

12. This is what kills me about the so called right.
They claim they want a religious man in the white house. A man who puts Jesus first in his life.

We gave them Jimmy Carter. They loathed him.

They cried out for fiscal responsibility.

No one was more fiscally responsible than Bill Clinton. They spent 8 year trying to bring him down in the most vitriolic political witch hunt of the 20th century.

So it really isn't about our rhetoric or any issue of any kind. It's all about the (R) at the end of a candidate's name. That's all that matters. Everything else, every complaint they have is nothing but BS.

That's why when people propose making McCain Kerry's running mate I have to ask: What the hell are they thinking?

19. That is a great post.
May I suggest that it deserves its own thread?

You might also want to add how the right slimes real veterans such as Max Cleland and John Kerry.

13. Exactly
And at least we can point to real actions by Stupidhead and his corrupt administration, instead of pining away for the day when Vince Foster's suicide is finally ruled a murder, or when Bill Clinton's Mena Airport cocaine drops are finally substantiated.

Hey Bill (since I know you or one of your minions is reading): How does the administration seeking immunity from prosecution for war crimes fit in with your conservative philosophy? Why would someone who is innocent be seeking immunity from prosecution? And regardless of your rationale, why doesn't the same apply to the USA PATRIOT Act? You old hypocrite. Next time you're perusing the Bible, check out the strong admonition against bearing false witness, would you?

16. Oh, Buckley can go fuck himself. "Civil Relations"?!? Where was ol'
Buckley during the 90s?

William, my stodgy effete aristocrat, you have NO IDEA what Free America will do to remain free.

that is because you side with KingGeorge, than in 1776 and NOW.

Fuck you, William, the best you can hope for is to die before you see the Dark Future that is almost certain to come (it could come in many different ways) to what was once called the United States of America.

17. I guess all those diplomats and miltary leaders who...
are campaigning against Bush's policies must be frequent readers of BartCop. Same is probably true of Rand Beers, Richard Clarke, Nelson Mandella, Pope John Paul II, Ron Reagan Jr., Kofi Annan, Hans Blix, Scott Ritter, etc.... This is in no way the complete list and I apologize for spelling errors but this excrement from Mr. Buckley has gotten my blood boiling today.

Smarmy calls for "civility" and "lowered voices", since "everyone would gain" from them.

Oh really? I didn't hear you calling for "civility" and "lowered voices" from 1993 until 2001 as you and the rest of the conservative earwigs flapped and buzzed and scuttled and whined around and around Bill Clinton's zipper, and any other steaming pile of disinformation, innuendo and rumor that you and the rest of the self-annoited termed "scandalous", "disgusting", and "immoral".

Just shut UP, asshole. Shut The Fuck Up.
