Cokie Roberts interviewing Edwards: She is a repulsive human being.
This is on ABC: You can see how much she despises the democrats. Edwards is doing a good job, but the expression on her face is just despicable.

1. She mentions all the RW talking points. How transparent. Are all these
issues to be used against you?
Edwards: yeah in politics of division that is what they will do.

7. Essentially that the Edwards are using them (and what is * doing with
his two daughters) and that because they were dancing with the cheeseheads on the stage people did not pay attention to what Edwards was saying....

4. All the Media Whores are in full regalia this morning...
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 10:12 AM by Flubadubya
Have watched Timmie Russert interviewing Obama, Stephanopolis with Kennedy, now Cokie with Edwards. Each and every one of them has been outrageously biased. Funny thing too, they all had to ask their interviewee about being "LIBERAL". "Isn't that going to hurt you? Do you own up to the label?" Yada, yada, yada.

Unfortunately, I did not see a single Dem buck up to that stupid question and say "I'm proud to be a liberal and it is the so-called conversatives who have lied and made it a bad word... it is not a bad word, it is a GOOD word."

ARRGGHHH... fuckin' quit it with the "UGH LIBERAL" Media Whores! They're going on and on about it right now. Cokie now... "It's the party of the LEFT (democrats)." So, we're supposed to glean from this... "Liberals are bad, lefties can't win!" :grr:  :argh:

37. this infuriates me beyond imagining, and I always try to think of
a comeback. yours is by FAR the best I've heard, cause it hits them SQUARE where they live

best I could ever think of, and one I definitely think dems should use is something along the lines of: FINE, if you call us liberals, then PLEASE call the republicans what they are......RADICAL REACTIONARIES.

THEN, start pointing out all the things that are the CORE of our society: five day work week, GI bill, Medicare, SS, voters' rights, etc., and ask how many REACTIONARIES were in favor of ANY of those programs

ask them to name ONE program the reactionaries have EVER enacted that was in the public interest

just ONE!

No Shortage of Fighters in Iraq's Wild West

By Patrick J. McDonnell Times Staff Writer

RAMADI, Iraq (news - web sites) — Hunkered down in the turquoise-domed Islamic Law Center, a dozen Marines wait for the enemy to make its inevitable move. Insurgents equipped with Soviet-made sniper rifles keep the building in their cross hairs. Assailants with AK-47s and grenade launchers regularly peer from nearby alleys and roofs. Attacks can come from any direction.

The wait is unnerving, but it's better than being in the streets of this turbulent western city. A Marine convoy was attacked here Wednesday with a roadside bomb and as many as 100 insurgents unleashed a barrage of small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in rolling firefights that lasted for much of the day. Thirteen Marines and one soldier were injured, and the U.S. military reported killing 25 fighters.

"When you walk on the streets, they can hide in every nook and cranny and you can never find them until they start shooting," said Marine Cpl. Glenn Hamby, 26, who heads Squad 3 of Golf Company. "Here, they have to come right to us."

This is what the war has come down to in Iraq's Sunni Muslim heartland, where providing tenuous security harks back to America's 19th century Indian Wars — a time when the cavalry set up outposts and forts in decidedly hostile territory. Ramadi is Indian Country — "the wild, wild West," as the region is called.

12. Michael Eisner is a Republican...
... in addition to being an incompetent CEO. He has openly acknowledged that his company doesn't want to offend the Bushes because he might lose tax breaks in Florida. You tell me, watching this show, that this does not affect the content. They should have called this episode "attack the shit out of the democrats".

38. No he isn't
He's a Democrat. Or rather I should say the last time I checked, he was a Democrat. During the Clinton years, he donated quite a lot of money to the party.

Also, it's stupid to assume that just because someone might not want to offend a Republican governor who comes from a family that is nasty and vindictive when one of their own is crossed that that makes them a "Republican" too. You can make an argument for cowardly or overly cautious but that's about it.

She said that Shrub has been ruled by "not making the same mistakes as his father-------AND HE'S MAKING THEM. He wanted to play to his (fundie) base so he started this Gay marriage thing and got everybody all stirred up AND HE GOT AN EMBARRASSING LOSS. He DOESN'T have a domestic agenda for the next four years. People are asking, 'What have you done for me lately?' "

Well, it's not much, but it's SOMETHING from this media whore. George WILL was sitting frozen and the next question to him didn't give him a chance to rebut and he didn't even try to deflect it into a rebuttal.

28. Her father was Congressman Hale Boggs - died in a mysterious plane crash
Cokie has Stockholm Syndrome - she's been completely co-opted.

Another member of a prominent government commission who died in a small plane crash was former Democratic representative and House Majority Leader Hale Boggs. Boggs was best known as one of the seven members of the Warren Commission, which investigated the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The commission found that Lee Harvey Oswald was acting alone when he killed the president. Boggs, it turns out, had "strong doubts" that Oswald acted alone, but went along with the commission findings. Later, in 1971 and 1972, he went public with his doubts. He was presumed dead after the small plane carrying him and Democratic Representative Nicholas Begich disappeared in 1972.

30. Her father died in a small plane mishap.
In 1972, Hale Boggs & Alaska congressman Nick Begich (also D) were flying from Anchorage to Juneau. The plane disappeared & no wreckage was ever found.

Lindy Boggs won a special election to take her husband's place & was re-elected 8 times. She served as ambassador to the Vatican from 1997 to 2001.

Historical note: Hale Boggs served on the Warren Commission.

the media crackwhore Roberts is quite possibly the dumbest of all the Sunday morning media "pundits" I've seen.

The only thing I saw this morning was Obama on MTP. I hadn't seen him speak before (though I'd read a lot about him) and was very impressed. He will do a great job at the convention and in the senate.

31. When I watched War Room I took a good look at George S and
my overriding feeling was that whatever he was involved with
he was involved for his own advancement and aggrandizement.
No surprises about how he behaved when Bill Clinton ran into some difficulty. He was the one who advised him to OK an independent counsel wasn't he? Poor advice. I read that Bill ran into George a while ago and gave him approximately 3 minutes of his time. Too much if you ask me. Cokie Roberts is predictable. I think many of her actions are based on maintaining her dinner party invitations.

32. I just saw that a few weeks ago
and had no idea how deeply Stephonopolis was involved in the campaign. He seemed very supportive useful during the campaign, but maybe that was only because it was so likely that Clinton would win.

The few times I've seen him on the abc morning show, he has been a dissapointment.

On the other hand, I have no idea why Roberts is a big part of the DC crowd, well then again on second thought the entire media establishment is filled with similar shallow, worthless talking heads, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

For much of 1992, it looked like Clinton would lose. IIRC at one point he was polling at just over 20%.
