1. I can dig it... I've wondered the same thing?
But I think there's probably something against it b/c of term limits. i.e Dean is not able to complete the job or something?

2. Someone can only be Vice President...
...if they are legally qualified to be President.

So Clinton would be out, due to term limits.

I believe that Clinton can be vice-president. The rule concerns being elected to the office, not promoted to it.

On edit: Haven't you noticed, I never get it right the first time.

Take a gander (maybe you'll take back another 'dang'):

Amendment 22 (1951)

Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

4. Depends
Since President Clinton served two terms, he could not run as VP.

Presidents Ford, Carter and Bush 1 could run for president again or VP. Ford I believe could serve two full terms since he only served part of Nixon's remaining term. Former VP's Gore, Mondale and Potatoe Head could in fact fun for VP again.
