I just found this in the Tacoma paper. Seems that Bush touted the funding of Domestic Abuse help centers in America. He granted a whopping 20 million dollars to fund the program nationally. (20 million for 50 states?). Anyway, the feds turned down the request to help fund the center in Tacoma/Seattle, Washington areas. If you see what States got fully funded, you'll understand why: Ohio (crucial battleground State). Massachuesetts (John Kerry's turf). Alaska (Republicans bent over backwards to help Bush with drilling in ANWAR & need to stay in power so he can realize that dream). Washington? One of those states that doesn't matter to Bush. More unfunded ideas from Bush and the Republicans:

The center in San Diego is considered a model. Since it opened, no victim who has used it has been killed, according to San Diego City Attorney Casey Gwinn.
Pierce County has for years had a one-stop domestic violence center where victims can get protection orders and talk to deputies and attorneys. The new center would add offices for advocates who could help victims create a safety plan, find housing, apply for food benefits and other assistance>>
