39. BS It is real. It is too risky for them to hold convention.
All the deflection going on now, is to try and convince the public it is safe to have convention in New York, when it is not.

17. If we're really elevated to an orange alert, based on specific information
Then what the fuck is Bush still doing out on the road campaigning, when he should be in Washington trying to figure out what the hell is going on and take a hand in stopping it? What, the American people won't understand?

The best thing he could do for his campaign is go back to Washington. But, oh, that would mean there's actually a problem, as opposed to putting out bullshit in reaction to the Democrat's successful convention and CONTINUED supremacy in the polls.

I cannot STAND this man.

19. Very good AngryLizard!
That is what the dems need to be saying-if the US isn't actually safer now and there is a threat that requires a higher alert, then the President should be in Washington DC working on this issue. Repeat after me: why is he out campaigning-he has a country to run....

20. Plus, if New York is really under threat of attack
Is Bush still planning to have his convention there? Wouldn't it be better to postpone it? Or does he think the threat will be contained by then? Gee. I wonder.

Not only that, let's see if they actually tell us what they're doing in response to this threat -- more police on the streets of New York? Tougher regulations at airports and ports? You'd think they'd want the American People to know how they're protecting them and what to look out for -- how much you want to bet we hear nothing but "Keep your eyes open! Uh, uh, got any duct tape?"

HATE these people.

Wolf Blitzer, "If you look at the polls, this race is neck and neck. And Kerry didn't seem to get much of a bounce."

The polls show Kerry ahead, asswipe, as they have for the past month. And Kerry did get a bounce, although HE WAS ALREADY AHEAD IN THE POLLS!!!

End rant. I have to take my blood pressure medication now.

23. This is what Orange means??
From the DHS "Citizen Guidance on the Homeland Security Advisory System" http://www.dhs.gov/interweb/assetlibrary/CitizenGuidanceHSAS2.pdf

"Complete recommended steps at levels green and blue.
Ensure disaster supply kit is stocked and ready.
Check telephone numbers in family emergency plan and update as necessary.
Develop alternate routes to/from work or school and practice them.
Elevated Risk Continue to be alert for suspicious activity and report it to authorities."

Dammit. I was planning on mowing the lawn today. Now I have to go practice my alternate routes to work. :-(

24. AngryLizard says
"if New York is really under threat of attack, Is Bush still planning to have his convention there"

Aye, there's the rub. Here's their excuse to cancel the convention. No need to confront the hundreds of thousands of protesters, no need to remind everyone what a miserable failure he is. So what if they are using people's fears to accomplish this. It's just collateral damage.

30. This is in preparation for election day.
Right now, New York and D.C. are under "Orange Alert". Doing a "region by region" alerting sets the satage for the following:

1) Red Alert in New York with fill out martial law just before the RNC. Back to Orange Alert just after.
2) Orange Alert in L.A., San Francisco, Chicago, and all heavily liberal urban areas in the country in bits and pieces throughout September and October.
3) Entire nation on ORange Alert last week of October. All Orange Alert areas go to red alert November 1 with full out martial law. No voting happens in urban areas.
4) Bush* wins in a "landslide" because the urban areas do not have even 10% voter turnout.

34. Martial law is, by definition, a military dictatorship
Under martial law, the military under the CIC is in charge.

There a no longer any rights under the constitution. Everything is done by decree from the CIC. In effect, it is a military dictatorship.

And I'll probably get things at a discount, because the sheeple tourists in the heartland ain't comin' to D.C. if their beloved Bushie sez there's terra terra terra about! So the impoverished tourist-related businesses will be GLAD TO SEE MEEEEEE!
