The best comeback to people who say Kerry's didn't get a bounce.
Given that there were a very low number of undecideds, this is not unexpected and indeed, no democrat I know expected a 15 percent bounce. That was what the RIGHT WING pundits were saying. They said the same thing about Kerry picking a running mate.

Now if their predictions were true, they were predicting Kerry to be polling at near 80% right now. (50 percent base + 15 from VP pick + 15 from convention)

That in itself should make you question those predictions.

1. I say he didn't need a bounce because he beat history by...
..being ahead of or tied with the incumbent going into the convention, which rarely happens.

2. Many polls have said that 95% of people have already made up their minds
If that's the case, where would the big bounce come from?

Besides, the accurate numbers will usually take a week to come out.

6. If there was no bounce, why are right wingers fretting so much?
They sure seem to have massive amounts of flop sweat these days...

7. I also like the smart Aleck response
Why is this race even close? Bush is a successful wartime President, he's respected throughout the world, the US Economy is doing great, jobs are plentiful, and budget surpluses are at record levels - he should be up by 30 points!

8. Ask them why, all of a sudden, Gallup is the end all to be all...
That's my response. It's never been so overused before.

9. And, a picture is worth a thousand words

This is not a carefully screened group of supporters. This is a spontaneous demonstration of interest in and support for Kerry in a swing state region that tends to vote Republican.

10. I think there's far too much focus on polls anyway
Regardless of what they say, we need to be working hard right up to the election to keep up the pressure and to educate people about he realities of this race. My response when people throw polls at me is that you can always find a poll that says the exact opposite.

11. "Have you convince yourself that that is true yet?"
That is always a good one.
