It's Oct. 2004. Still no paper trail. What now?
All of our efforts to insure voter-verified audit trails are for naught. The machines are strategically installed, with propaganda fed to the masses that all problems have been fixed, the security issues are resolved, the source code is open source, there is no need to clutter up the polling places with a paper trail - the bits and bytes will be made available in the form of secure databases.

The Dems are ahead in the polls; it looks like we can't lose. But we at DU and academia know that the Repukes are going to find a way to fix the votes. We feel helpless; it is inevitable that they will attempt to steal it. But our Democratic candidates won't make an issue out of a hypothetical threat.

It seems to me that we must decide to fight like there is no tommorrow.

We didn't start the fire, so how do we put it out? What are our weapons? How do we go to war?

2. That's a tough one
I assume there will be good exit polling to get a good range of what the results should be.

Would have to find reasons to contest the results in States where it is clear the Dems would have won if not for fixed votes. How to prove the votes were fixed is another story that I don't have an answer for.

The more publicity the BBV issue gets BEFORE the general election the better positioned we'll be with the public to make and issue of it afterwards.

Anticipate the ways the votes will be stolen and attack from those angles - might prevent some of it that way.

PRAY for Bev and the many dedicated people working with her on this issue.

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

3. plan on fixed elections
I hope I am wrong --I seriously hope I am nuts--
I see the next few years very serious fights for freedom.

My keen intuition tells me that by 2012 things will cool off but I am thinking we are in store for more 911's and worse-
-fixed elections, the draft, curfews, martial law(where you will be confined to your sector)-
-there will be no internet-
-all those who make waves are suddenly enemy combatants and are taken away.
Those who are left can say nothing.
nothing on the news about what is happening.

So suppose I am right-

-what can we do now to make sure we can communicate when this goes down? Where will DUers meet?
How can we make arrangements now for the very worst case scenario?
They will shut down the internet right away.
underground radio?
Canada?
Mexico?
What would you do?

4. Citizen Exit Pollers.
Dean has mentioned the need for exit pollers as well as
the DNC.

Especially in Florida.

By the way fuck the media exit polling.

6. I signed on
Go to pollwatch.org and sign on to be an exit poller in the next election. This is one way we can all help.
