8 out of 14 service dogs that died had cancer (911)
Edited on Mon Aug-23-04 08:05 PM by goddess40
Janeane Garofalo just announced on her show. It is so disgusting that the govt is denying that there is no connection between the dogs service to this country searching through the rubble for bodies and their death from cancer.
Wait until people start coming down with stuff from 911 and the weeks that followed. I know it's depressing but I think it's coming.
edit:Someone said that there were 97 dogs orignally

1. That says a lot because Canine metabolism is way faster than ours
there will be some hard years to come...plus GBush Co pressured Hillary to go along with their lies that there was nothing to worry about.

Hillary missed her chance. She shoulda been Clark's VP.

2. I heard about this earlier today, but never heard the story
behind the headline. Hillary was slamming shrub a few months ago about having altered the safety reports of NY just after 9/11 and putting the people at risk. I don't hear a lot about it but it pops up in news articles every so often. With this happening with the dogs, it may jump to the top on the news chanels. It should! Bring this out Hillary!!!

3. Your title's rather misleading.

It's of the 14 dogs that have died since 9-11 (out of how many hundred?), eight of those deaths were due to cancer.

That's an awfully small statistical sample. How does it correlate to a control?

5. I think it was 97
dogs total. So really the percentage is not that high. Only 14 of 97 dogs used in the search and rescue have died at all. We will have to see what happens to the others. It is misleading to draw any conclusion from this statistic; it is such a small sample.

6. Um, sounds like how to lie with statistics
First 14 rescue dogs have died. How many dogs were involved in this effort? 14 out of 20 would be significant; 14 our of 100 would not. Second, how old were these dogs? Were they at the beginning or the end of their careers? Remember, these dogs only have a lifespan of 10-12 years when they're pampered, and these were working dogs.

I would very much like to hear the rest of the story. 8 of 14 deaths from cancer sounds like a lot to me too, but I'd have to know the overall number and the ages before I'd start freaking out about this.
