WH plans to severely slash domestic spending in 2006 budget but is
keeping this information from the public for now, per "Marketplace" on NPR. Programs like education, health, housing, homeland security, etc.

An official tried to palm off the budget as an unfinished work-in-progress, but did say that the American public will accept these cuts as a necessary sacrifice during the "war on terror".

We all know this precious issue will be unaddressed at the RNC next week and during the campaign. But this is something that Kerry MUST address and keep on the message. You think we have it bad now?! The * Administration is just winding up and hasn't let go of the ball yet.

1. We have to cut..
Homeland Security because of the "war on terror"?

Well, now I've heard it all.

BTW, Kerry does address this in his speeches when he says we shouldn't be building firehouses in Iraq while we're closing them accross the US. He needs to expeend on that message, because I know many moderate voters who are upset about spending money in Iraq while so many people here are struggling.

3. Thank goodness...Kerry/Edwards in '04
Hope is on the way.......... Some of those proposed "cuts" have already happened! They've already closed some schools in our area for lack of funding and they've started cutting HUD. Many, many people freaking out on that last one...

What in the world do you suppose is in that freaks (GW) mind anyway?? I don't get it. Does all of his admin. think his ideas are bright? What do they think they will be left with if they destroy the entire country?

7. The problem IS,
they don't CARE what will be left of this country! Him and his cabal, Halliburton, corporations and multi-millionaire buddies have all the money they could ever need. THEY have their money, to hell with the rest of those "lazy" poor Americans.

They would have all the money and all the power.

Also, I don't think for one minute that the chimp is behind all these "ideas." PNAC IS. The chimp is their puppet. These people cannot be left to further their agenda....our country will be no more. :(

5. Wonder what parts of homeland security he's cutting?
My guess is fire departments and police stations. My tinfoil hat says that this will create the justification for the Homeland Special Police Force. Rumors that they will wear red and black armbands have still not been confirmed or denied.

6. Yep. Very probable. www.citizencorps.gov
Already in motion.

When the gov. goes bankrupt and Norquist et al "drown it in a bathtub", the Citizen Corps (including what will by then be a de facto Nationalized neighborhood Watch -- it has already begun in some places) can step in and fill the gap beteween the Emperor and the localities.

Very possible. Very probable, even.
