Third Hurricane to strike Florida?
Ivan is gathering strength (Now a Cat 3, expected to get stronger
over the next 24 hours). Check out the predicted path.

Of course, it's waay to early to say it will hit Florida.. but it
seems to have a better than average chance at it.

Has Florida been hit with 3 Hurricanes in one year before now?
Looking around on the web, I can only find years where 2 hurricanes
have hit Florida... and only once before (1950) and this year.

I hope this doesn't happen, you folks in Florida need a break.

2. This is going to play hell with Pat Robertson's theory
that hurricanes and other bad things are God's vengeance on the immoral.

3. Actually, it's probably God's wrath against Jeb.
So maybe Pat is more correct than he thinks!

6. that's what my mom said
My parents live down in FL - everything/everyone is OK, thankfully - but when I joked that God is clearly pissed at them she snarked that it probably has something to do with the governor's last name.

8. Not really, I posted it late late at night.

What I really wanted to point out was the article that I found
on the web about the probable relationship between global
warming and the size and number of Hurricanes in the Atlantic.

I have no ego about threads I start or responses to posts I make.
I assume some number of people read them and follow the links
I provide and, hopefully, become better informed. If I am mistaken, I
hope people respond and educate me.

But next time (since there wasn't really a thread), I'll just
answer with the link to the story out of NASA Goddard.

9. Jesus. One from the West, One from the East and now One from the South...
Is there any way to get a hurricane to hit from the North?

12. I think Floyd went in reverse temporarily once.
It did a loop in the Atlantic just north of Florida.

13. If that happened, even I would start saying "curse from God"...
As it is, I'm sure "scholars" are pouring over quatrains from Nostradamus even as we post.

11. That one is up to 125mph now.
And the NWS says it's going to 145. It gained about 50mph in less than 24 hours and 10mph in the last 3. That is some storm. I have a feeling that it will turn north. I have been looking at the models for that far out and there is a high pressure system building over the southeast over the next few days. This storm could be dumped in the carolinas or further north. It's hard to tell for the machines this far early and harder for me.

So let us hope Frances blows back out to sea.
