http://www.usembassy-israel.org.il/publish/peace/archives/2001/february/me0224b.html

Remarks by S.S. Colin L. Powell in Egypt, 2/28/2001

"... - the fact that the sanctions exist - not for the purpose of hurting the Iraqi people, but for the purpose of keeping in check Saddam Hussein's ambitions toward developing weapons of mass destruction. ...And frankly they have worked. He has not developed any significant capability with respect to WMD. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors...

...,if I knew they were continuing to try to find weapons of mass destruction, I would have no doubt in my mind who those weapons were aimed at. They are being aimed at Arabs, not at the United State or at others."

I know this isn't new, but would hate to see this one slip down the memory hole.

1. If he's contradicting Bush, then he's telling the truth.
That was easy.
