Watched my first Chris Matthews today - on NBC I think.
It was ok. I didn't think he was as bad as some have made him out to be, but it was only one show. I did think his panel was mostly pro-bush/republican, although I thought they made some valid points about how Kerry needs to work up some great one-liners for the debate.

Is he on only once a week or does he have other shows.

And tell me, why he is called Tweety?

2. Chris Matthews is on broadcast NBC once a week and cable
MSNBC 5 nights a week.

He's called Tweety because his hair is/was blonde like the cartoon character Tweety Bird.

3. Because he looks like Tweety Bird
And sometimes when he's overheated, he sounds like a bird too.

His other show is Hardball on MSNBC. I don't know the eastern time, but it's on here at 5pm mountain time. It's shot live, I think.

5. Fortunately, you must have missed Tweety's Monica Lewinsky special
It ran for on hour per day, for an entire year. It sure was better than paying attention to things like al Qaeda and stuff.

6. Kerry needs to work up some one-liners for the debate?
The real truth is GWB ought to be able to work up some coherent, thought out, strung together, truthful sentences for the debate. He is not able to muster more than one-liners so, Kerry has to stoop down to his level???????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think Chris Matthews and his gang of republicans have it all wrong. Debates should be about intelligent discourse, never about popular or emotionally charged one-liners.

7. I completely agree with you! However,
I think most Americans aren't up for intelligent discourse or nuance. They want a bumper sticker debate. That's how far we've sunk, how dumb/ignorant the masses have become. Very sorry state of affairs & I believe needs to be changed, but first we need to get this sorry excuse of a president out of office.

8. "Kerry needs to work up some one-liners for the debate"
Its a debate, not a comedy show. Although i will admit that Shrub is a pretty big joke. That aside, are they not really suggesting that Kerry lower his IQ a few dozen points so Shrub does not look too bad?

9. No. I think they are suggesting he come up with some
quick, snappy comebacks that the stupid American public can relate to -- see my post, #7.

Kerry has to work with what he's got, which is a country full of people who are stupid, distracted & uninvolved. He is not lowering himself to Dimson's level, he is lowering himself to his constituency's level. However, if he can pull it off cleverly, that takes intelligence!

10. Matthews went on and on dissing Al Gore about "earth toned" clothing and

"sighing" during debates, and Matthews repeated the lies of Gore saying he "invented the internet" and he and Tipper were the couple in the novel "Love Story." He praised the "masculinity of Bush" in his "tight jeans with that great belt buckle" and his performance as "fly boy" in "Mission Accomplished" the Military Propaganda stunt. He thought Reagan was the greatest President...and compared Chimp to Churchill, Roosevelt and Truman many times.

If he's giving tips to Kerry it's because he's trying to plant in his viewers heads that Kerry isn't funny and Bush is...and so folks will immediately look for "funny Kerry" in the debates because "Magnificent Political Observer Tweety" already told him he should do "one-liners." If Kerry doesn't take "Tweety's" advice then viewers should immediately assume that Kerry is too serious and that the Chimp will make folks happier because he's "funny" and able to shoot back zingers.

Tweety is a master of "disinformation."

Watch him if you want, but be ware that he does use Repug Talking Points to manipulate his viewers and plant seeds of doubt about Democrats.

You can tell I'm not unbiased when it comes to Matthews..:D

11. that show epitomizes what is wrong with the media
All this hand-wringing that Kerry doesn't possess the ability to "talk directly to the people," like Bush does.
Here's what it boils down to: Kerry isn't stupid enough to appeal to Americans/media.
So now the debate has to stoop to BUSH's LEVEL, instead of there being some expectation that Bush should rise to Kerry's level.
It's so ridiculous that it would be funny if the whole thing weren't so tragic.

Oh, and MEMO: Apparently it's now okay to sweat because Andrea Mitchell Greenspan said Bush is out there on the stump, sweating like a real person.Last time around, Gore's sweating made him unsuitable for the presidency.
