thanks to our own Stephanie, there was a very informal gathering of DUers, and other friends and fans of paul and his work at a pub in NYC tonight.
I haven't picked up a copy of paul's book yet, but got a chance to leaf through a copy tonight and it is as impressive as anyone who's used his essential 'complete timeline' would expect.
paul's great. utterly down-to-earth, and, of course, very well informed.
I especially enjoyed meeting a 9/11 widow (and, HELP stef, I can't remember her name). she was great. talked about meetings with Tenet, Kerry and others and about the decision to go public with an endorsement.
the group shifted many times over the 3 hours I was there. even a couple of bar patrons joined in the dialog including one who had been at Ground Zero during the attacks that morning.
(his appreciation of *'s "comforting presence" and ignorance about too many details was a *bit* disturbing but... to his credit, he left with a list of sources to check out.)
anyway, I wish more NYC-area DUers had attended. great evening.
THANKS Stephanie!
