Porter Goss sworn in as CIA chief
Porter Goss sworn in as CIA chief

Friday, September 24, 2004 Posted: 10:06 AM EDT (1406 GMT)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In an Oval Office ceremony, Porter Goss was sworn in Friday to head the CIA and lead an intelligence community which has faced intense criticism for failures and faulty information prior to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the Iraq war.

Goss, 65, moved to the CIA from Congress where he represented southwest Florida in the House since 1989.

The Senate approved his nomination on a 77-17 vote Wednesday over protests from some Democrats who said he had too many Republican ties for a job that requires independence.

1. Well, that about locks Florida up for the Busheviks
Heydrich Goss Primary Mission: Help Imperial Prince Jeb secure Florida for the Empire.

Shred documents, further reduce and purge the Honest Faction of the CIA, replacing them with Imperial Loyalists, preferably from Amerikan Empire College of Concentration Camp Guards

We are in terrible trouble, people. If the Emperor is re-appointed to the Imperial Throne, the Penultimate Transition from Liberty to Totalitarian Tyranny, spearheaded by the Sturmtruppen even today sharpening their cruel merciless fangs against Enemies of the State right now at Bushevik Nazi College...

3. I dont follow, how does it lock up florida?
I also dont see how Bush has any more or less control over the CIA now than before. Goss is just a middle man. If Bush wanted documents shredded, he didnt have to wait for Goss to do it. If Bush wanted to purge people, he didnt have to wait for Goss to do it.

2. I got a surprise on Saturday
I met a cousin of Porter Goss.

This man is retired FBI, true-blue republican. We've spoken many times about the evils of Bush & the past deeds of Kerry. Specifically, this man felt that when Kerry (and others) back here started to blast the administration for Viet Nam, the insurgency increased greatly over there.

I don't know how much of this is true, and I respect his opinion and value his judgment.

However, I don't let his unwaivering praise of bush* go unanswered. We've spoken about taxes and the environment and the lies told to take us to war and women's issues (he has a 30-something daughter) and the general direction this country has gone over the past three years.

Where he absolutely, positively will not vote for Kerry, I'm optimistic that my discussions with him will cause him to pause before he pulls the lever for bush*.

I've even told him that when he's inside the booth and the curtains are closed, it doesn't matter if he doesn't vote for Kerry. But if he feels that this administration has been honest and upfront with the country, and that their idealism is going to take us in the right direction if bush* gets reelected, then by all means go ahead and vote for him. But if he even has an inkling that 4 more years of bush* will do more damage to our country, then perhaps he needn't bother to pull that lever.

When I frame our discussions this way, his adamant anti-Kerry stance relaxes a bit. I'm not asking him to vote for Kerry, I'm just asking him not to vote for bush*.

I've got a few more weeks to hammer this home. Hopefully, he'll listen.
