The Bush/Cheney signs suddenly blossomed
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 10:54 PM by senseandsensibility
in my neighborhood yesterday. I noticed them as I drove home from work, looking forward to the debate. Two new ones had sprouted up, across the street to the match the one next door. My husband and I suddenly felt surrounded, and a weird kind of forboding seemed to be in the air...

Looking back on it now, maybe they were trying to "cheer on their guy" for the debate. If so, they must be very disappointed today.

When I drove home today, there was a neighbor in my driveway, waiting. He had not been home when my husband visited him on his precinct walk. He wanted a Kerry sign, twelve bumper stickers, and a button. He asked us what was wrong with the people in our neighborhood, and why there weren't more Kerry signs out. I said that maybe they were intimidated. He said "I won't be intimidated. My father fought in two wars for this country, and I won't be silenced. My husband replied that his father was a career Marine.

The best part of this was the woman next door was getting out of her car right at that time, and heard the whole exchange. She and her husband are fundy * supporters who hysterically tried to convert my husband to a bushie a few months ago. I could have told them there was a better chance of hell freezing over!! Anyway, the fundie lady didn't look too happy today. She threw us craven liberals a few dirty glances before darting into her house. I think the tide has turned, people!;-)

6. Living in O.C., I have to admit Hubby and I
have been hesitant to put our sign up. Another neighbor's house was egged (garage mostly, but still damaging) when he had his Clinton/Gore sign in 1996. He will no longer put up a sign. After the debate last night, we talked and decided we WILL put our sign out. I wish it wasn't this way. My husband is a VET and he said "Let's fight".
The Kerry/Edwards sign goes up in the morning.

3. the bush signs are free- we pay for our Kerry signs here.
I heard they force people to put signs up & work if they want to go to a bush rally.
We've gone to hear JK speak- no loyalty oaths required there!

4. You're right about
Dems paying for their signs. As precinct captains, my husband and I had to charge the guy in our driveway almost twenty dollars for his sign, button, and bumper stickers. I didn't know that the * ones were free.

5. I got mine free here in Wisconsin
Got lucky I guess. A guy came and put up a big huge Feingold sign in my yard and I asked him if he had a Kerry/Edwards one...he did and gave it to me.

10. i don't agree with us charging for signs and bumperstickers and i
told my local HQ too. I donate just about every month to the kerry campaign and it should be given to me on principle. I don't care if someone just came in and had to buy 5 signs because they were stolen. The fact that I have to dish out further money just offends me to no end. She must have felt bad because she gave me a couple signs for free.

11. Hey, it's not the rubes' fault their signs are late

The ship with their election knicknacks and signage just got in from Malaysia the day before yesterday. So they're actually being efficient. You just can't blame them for the way their masters- oops, I meant RNC honchos- have outsourced everything.

12. Not here they haven't.
I see plenty of signs for repug congressmen and state senators in yards. But in over 90% of those yards there are no chimpy signs.
