2.  Your right....
It just shocked me that so many above ground test could have been conducted in one state and I also wondered if any studies had been done on the affects of these test.

3. We used to get warnings all the time back then
not to eat the snow. The fallout problem became known when people downwind of the tests would become ill. I'm sure you can Google "fallout" and read for hours on the crap we sent skyward.

5. You will NOT want to read this. But you should.
I have worked with a research group doing evaluation of the effects on people called the Radiation and Public Health Project.

I think this info here is CRITICAL for people to understand, especially since Bush is pushing NEW nukes (weapons and commercial plants)

Read the summary of a report HERE:

http://www.euradcom.org/2003/execsumm.htm

Excerpt: 10. The committee concludes that the present cancer epidemic is a consequence of exposures to global atmospheric weapons fallout in the period 1959-63 and that more recent releases of radioisotopes to the environment from the operation of the nuclear fuel cycle will result in significant increases in cancer and other types of ill health.

11. Using both the ECRR's new model and that of the ICRP the committee calculates the total number of deaths resulting from the nuclear project since 1945. The ICRP calculation, based on figures for doses to populations up to 1989 given by the United Nations, results in 1,173,600 deaths from cancer. The ECRR model predicts 61,600,000 deaths from cancer, 1,600,000 infant deaths and 1,900,000 foetal deaths. In addition, the ECRR predict a 10% loss of life quality integrated over all diseases and conditions in those who were exposed over the period of global weapons fallout.

then go to www.radiation.org to learn what can be done.

There is also a site run by Dr. Helen Caldicott (I forget the address but search her and you will find it. it is new)

Finally, the National Cancer Institute has a werbsite where you can calculate (if you are old enough) how much exposure YOU got to certain radioisotopes from atmospheric testing.

6. National Cancer Institute: Find out if YOU were dosed HERE:
Edited on Sun Oct-10-04 07:56 PM by seventhson
http://rex.nci.nih.gov/INTRFCE_GIFS/radiation_fallout/radiation_131.html

It MIGHT explain things like many Cancers, ADD, ADHD, thyroid problems, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and LOTS of things you thought only YOU wrought on yourself because of bad genes or something.

Millions were dosed and million got sick and millions died.

And the Bush-Cheney Halliburton (which is a NUCLEAR company too) are keeping this holocaust a secret because they are getting filthy rich from it.

Go Here to calculate your dose based on where you were born (prior to 1970):

7. Thank You ,
I've always felt todays cancer problems were a result of chemical and nuclear effects in our environment. If I can find it I'd like to compare cancer rates of say 1900 to 1920 to present day. The info you supplied will get me started. I hate to get side tracked from the election and call me naive but this revelation of above ground test just stunned me, I'm 56 years old.

12. Try doing trhe dose calculation test linked in my post above.
If you were born in the US you can find out an estimate of what you were exposed to.

I nursed and drank cow's milk on a farm - I was seriously dosed in New England when I was born in the mid-50's.

9. My sister, born in 1952, is recovering from thyroid cancer
diagnosed two years ago, and she and I think her problems are due to indirect exposure.

I talked to my OB/GYN about periodic thyroid testing even though I am asymptomatic because of my age (I was born in '58). I mentioned the fallout to him and I thought he smirked. He made some comment about "We all get exposed to something or another," in a dismissive tone. I really don't think he believed me.

10. Doctors are NOT educated about this
My brother is a doctor and he is just now FINALLY staring to get it a LITTLE.

I am a lawyer who worked very briefly FOR a nuke company (litigating claims against the company)and I KNOW how these things are covered up.

The damage to the global population is HUGE and the effort to conceal it is one of the most intensely nefarious efforets in history.

Just imagine the corporate damages if EVERYONE sued for the exposre we ALL have and if all exposed sued when they got cancer.

It would destroy the nuclear industry but it would save BILLIONS of lives.

Doctors just don't give a damn.

Like dentists, they know which side their bread is buttered on.

My mom was taking premarin (PREgnant MARe urINe) and asked her doctor if it was true it came from horses and that the horses are mistreated. He FREAKING LIED to her face and told her it had nothing to do with horses.

11. Have her due the dose calculator in my thread above and have her
bring that to her doctor.

There ARE doctors who know about this stuff.

Try the Broda Barnes Foundation.

13. Doctors lean Republican
I've been told that by doctors, all about their stock portfolios. But I think the ideology probably seeps in over time. If you're worried, find a new doctor.

Per capita thyroid doses resulting from all exposure routes from all test

(I tried to post this image but I am incompetent to do so or it refuses)

But have a look. It will seriously piss you off, especially given that the plumes contained strontium 90 which remians dangerous for more than 100 years in the environment.

15. Can't link but remember a documentary I watched about nuclear testing
Stated that radiation was found in cows milk as far east as ST Louis. I was born in 1957 and raised in Kansas City and drank lots of milk.

That freaks me out.

I wonder if my daughter's generation will have lower cancer rates.

was heavily dosed with radioactive iodine and other substances.

I was in New England on a farm and my father milked the cow every day - twice a day.

He did not know it was unsafe. It is so sad and so infuriating and disheartening.

It reminds me of a Holocaust in our own country where the government is experimenting on us and deliberately making us sick for money and power and filthy greed.

In fact one researcher says there should be Nuremburg style trials for the nuclear industry and those who exposed us (and who are STILL exposing us - like Halliburton which designs nuke plants and is one of the biggest proponents of nukes along with GE, Bechtel and Westinghouse)

18. Yucca Mountain vs. Nuclear Testing
Just as an aside, we'd have to blow up that many nukes every single day for 30,000 years to put the same amount of radioactive material inside Yucca Mountain that * intends on putting there by 2025 or so. It'll be shipped by unguarded, untested conatiners through a neighborhood near you any day now...
