It is now irrefutable: Men are dumber than women.
Considering the recent polls that state a significant margin of men support Bush while the opposite is true of women.

Ohhhhh, my poor, ignorant brothers. Why dost thou not useth thy brains?

Ignorant as you may be. Let it never not be said, behind the man is a woman. Many men have left their brains in the park, on the side of the road, who knows? But we, the women of their world are there to pick up the pieces, to support and to carry on. We always have been and we always shall be. Cheers to all of us able to find soulmates that we get to work with to be a positive force for change.

32. Agreed.
There is a double standard that no one seems to mind.

Perhaps it's a necessary over-correction but it seems like anymore there just can't be sexism against men, only against women. I think that's wrong.

JMO though.

sick of metrosexuals

I'm really incensed that the queer eye guys go around chopping off all the hippie guys' hair.

I really need anger management when it comes to that. Just because They don't like it doesn't mean it isn't beautiful.

I think a metrosexual is either a queer on the fence or perhaps a true narcissist like in "American Psycho".

43. Oh, right
I can ignore all the sexist terms you guys use against women whose beliefs you don't agree with because I also think they deserve what's coming to them, but god forbid any women (or supportive men, for that point) should get a little uppity.

True discrimination is done by the powerful against the powerless or less powerful. It's not just one group against another. True sensitivity means agknowledging the world we live in isn't equal.

Thus, minorities can be discriminated against, but affirmative action is not discrimination and poking fun at men by women is not discrimination because the men are more powerful, both physically and financially. Thus, what women say are not likely to harm men, whereas what men say about women can have a direct negative effect.

45. I'm sorry.... And you're a.... woman?
Lighten up, my friend. One of the most wonderful things about the battle between the sexes is that for so long, women just LET men think they were in control. It's just that now, they are getting tired of the facade.

Sorry, but as long as genitalia is distributed the way it is, straight men have the hormonal thing working against them for the first half of their lives.

That isn't a necessarily bad thing, it's just the way it is. You're damn right they were going to try to hang on to the idea that muscles meant righteousness. It was bullshit then and it's bullshit now. See Dubya.

IMHO, societal evolution is in the process of going into hyper drive. There will be quibbling but as long as biology stays the way it is, the end will justify the truth in that women have definitive control over the existence of "mankind."

69. The thing is, this assertion is supported by statistics.
not that I feel like looking for some, but we say Bush supporters are stupid all the time, and a significant number of them are white males.

The real issue is, what to do about it.

some say, macho up the dem image, the others say court the "special interests" (read non-white, non-male, non-het, etc.) which makes it sound as if at its heart the party REALLY is intended for white men and appealing to minorities is just strategy.

Perhap the folk objecting to the sexism need to put their heads together and come up with a solution to the problem, so we don't have the dilemna of why it okay to call someone stupid UNLESS they are a white male Bush supporter.

64. As a woman, it's pretty sexist and divisive, however well-intentioned
The truth, in my opinion, is of course men are in no way dumber than women.

However, perhaps what the thread intends is to imply that a good amount of men who have been in the *alpha male* seat for centuries, have become largely insulated from the struggles and prejudices that others have had to endure either because they are female and/or have a different color of skin, etc.

Seems to me, when people stay largely insulated from other's experiences, they have little way or understanding (or concern)for other's pain and/or life experiences. I also believe they miss out on really wonderful, life enriching experiences because they remain closed off from opportunities that would open up their world to a much bigger, broader telescope of the world.

29. Why do you suppose that is?
I've noticed it too. Hapless husbands, helpless fathers. Snarky women. Wiseass little girls. It is unfair all around. What is the societal goal? Payback? Knocking the neanderthals down a peg?

I wish we could get past it all. I'm tired of the man on the riding lawnmower, the men arguing over who has the best lawn, the hapless dad who cannot make a meal, but can manage the microwave, and women being the only ones (except Mr. Clean, of course) who ever mop a goddamn floor or do the laundry so it smells great.

Obviously, this shit works on a huge percentage of the population. But the very fact that we are discussing it tells me we will one day look at those commercials with the same horror that we look at the "Call For Phillip Morris!" commercials, with a childish bellhop shilling cigarettes to happy men with greasy hair and delighted women in puffy dresses.

Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 03:22 AM by bezdomny
I think they run on the principle "Screw the job up badly enough and you won't be asked to do it again." So if we pretend that men are just helpless at washing dishes, cooking, cleaning, changing diapers, doing laundry, etc. it reinforces the meme that this is women's work while at the same time giving women a false sense of accomplishment that they can do all the disgusting shit men don't really want to do better than they could.

And it isn't really a new trend. It's been around since the 1920s at least and is probably as old as modern advertising itself.

Plus, it's never really been cool for boys *or* girls to be smart. Or not book-smart anyway. If you read victorian boarding school novels, the hero is always an all-rounder, pretty good at sports, average at school work. The cool kids are the smartasses not the actually smart kids. Anti-intellectualism is as old as mysogyny in this country and probably even more pervasive.

It's a bitch when boys are in school with girls and girls suddenly get the same rewards for having brains. It's not so easy for guys to pretend their better than girls anymore, so they pretend they don't care. It's a shame, cuz we're not going backwards for the male ego.

54. You'd think Bush would be more popular with women...
After all, he is a douche.

Yes, I ripped that off from Triumph. Shut up.

55. Can someone enlighten me as to why
men are supposed to prefer Bush more than women? I know women can see through all the macho stuff Bush throws around..they've been there, seen that and what kind of man is usually behind it. But men prefering Bush?

56. The Age of Aquarius
This past 'age' has been headed up by Marduk aka,Yahwey\male god person of anger and rightesnous (sic). He was a jealous half-brother who tried to take over from his sister prematurely and got bitch slapped for his efforts. Hence the over-the-top angry male single god that we've been led to believe is the 'ONLY' one as told by Moses.
The 'Ages' have turned.
Aquarius is feminine, nurturing, soothing, water sign.
Ishtar\Innana is due to have her 'age'.
John Kerry has it in him to allow feminine power to come to the fore-front.
Hillary rawks..............

58. Perhaps it's time to take the vote away from men and allow us women

to have a shot at changing things? Caveat: I have had to argue with female Bush*bots this week and their obdurate insistence on being uninformed was quite obvious.

60. I was with Tim Leary once when a young Repug asked him how he chose to
cast his vote.

Tim said, first choice was a woman, second was a man of minority and if all there was were white males, the decision got really tough.

God bless you, Tim. I miss ya.

62. The world would be a different place if women were the rulers.
IMCPO

I love this little quote:

"Three Wise Women would have. . . asked directions, arrived on time, helped deliver the baby, cleaned the stable, made a casserole, brought practical gifts, and There would be peace on Earth." ;)

72. Is that really it?
I don't want to beleive this, I don't I don't...

Don't y'all ever wonder about all the repugs that end up being gay men? I mean I'm gay myself, but how can they claim to be "more macho" if by their own definition buggery disqualifies you from that status? I said their own definition so no one go postal on me.

Is it possible it is intellect? I mean really, they did a study of "The O'Reilly Factor" viewers vs. "The Jon Stewart Show" viewers, is it possible that it is just that dem men are smarter people? I wish someone would do a rock solid study on this, because this macho/not macho, feminine voter/masculine voter is just some infectious meme with no data backing it up.
