Waiting for the October Suprise. Yup.
Where is it Georgie? The stock market is down, oil is up. The number of jobs is down, the number of uninsured is up. Osama is still running amok. Georgie is found stretching the truth; almost every day, something else surfaces. This morning it is "Bush's claims about work disputed," in a Knight-Ridder story about his time at PULL (the Professional United Leadership League). I guess we are still not hearing anything because somehow those poll numbers just hold steady. Kerry gets ahead a couple, and it is "within the margin of error." Shrub does the same thing, and it is an amazing comeback from the fingertips of angels. I guess he still has Iran up his sleeve, and plenty of brownshirts out trying to deter voters. What is going on? The tension in the air is so thick you could cut it with a knife.

1. Tension is great
Here it's a mixture of excitement that Kerry will win along with the apprehension that Dubya and Rove have something really dirty up their sleeves.

5. From the article "The guy knew he needed to change his life, and he did"
Yeah, 14 years later when he supposedly "quit" drinking.

6. hilarious--the freepers are convinced Kerry's about to spring
the October surprise. They have so few original ideas, they have to steal ours to look human!

7. A truer statement never spoken, librechik
My local paper puts "zings" in the paper, which are pithy little barbs people exchange across the aisle. They have some non-political content, but the political stuff is best. This week someone wrote in that the democrats have been "drinking the kool-aide." Can't these people make up their own sayings and leave ours alone?

8. Here is what a friend just told me . . .
I have a friend in Ohio (clark county) who just told me that a mutual person we know has been interviewed by major US and international papers, and was interviewed for a spot to appear on Nightline Monday night.

Here is the story, hopefully some of you have heard this already and can assure me it's not a big deal:

30 thousand letters were sent from Great Britain to persons in Clark County who were supposedly middle of the road voters. The letter, from what my friend relayed, basically gives reasons why a prospective voter would/should not vote for *.

Apparently our mutual friend received a letter, called the local paper, and, as on thing often leads to another, has been giving interviews to papers, radio, and, apparently, TV.

I watch the discussions here because they are interesting and usually contain great news links, and have seen nothing about this. Also Drudge has nothing yet (which really surprises me if it is truly a big deal).

The irony is that the guy who received the letters probably has never voted for a democrat in his life . . .which makes me wonder where exactly the letters are coming from.

I typically don't post on discussion boards. I mainly look for good links to alternative news sources, but when my friend called me with this little tidbit, I had to get a username and post.

Thanks for any info you can give.
