American internet firm's link to Ken Bigley torture videos
With ties to Bush too! Anyone hear about this? I assume it's been posted here before - but I wanted to make sure people saw it.

I'm not an expert on internet web-hosting. In fact, I know nothing about it. I don't know what this means - if anything. But I am curious about it.

1. no comment whatsoever
US Customs deputy special agent for Houston, Robert Rutt, said last night: "There's going to be no comment on this whatsoever."

I don't understand why not.

2. Intriguing way of saying "No comment"...
Just tends to make me even more curious.

3. Very creepy
Not so much the hosting scenario--which does provoke questions--but the Customs official's reaction is a rather curious thing. So many people thought the Berg beheading was a black op, but i sure never thought that Bigley and the two Americans were anything but "real".

Hmmm....

4. How close are the ties?
I don't mean to spoil any fun, but large Internet hosting sites have an almost impossible task of monitoring content for unscrupulous activity. If this is just the company they chose to host on, then it is really no fault of the owner. If, however, money ties beyond regular subscription, or ties of a personal nature are connected, this will be the end of that company. This needs more investigation to be a slam dunk, as the saying goes.

5. I agree
Here's an article that goes into more complications relating to this...

"In a telephone interview, PeopleHost's Steve Horrighs said it is important to understand the Internet's complicated domain name registration process. He said neither his company or Name Cheap supports terror and it would be untruthful to imply otherwise just because Hosting Anime chose to register its domain name with Name Cheap."
